anime TC?

Hey how do you think about a some kind of Anime-style DooM TC?
I mean a REAL total conversion, whit all levels,graphics,sounds and music, maybe in Requiem style?

there have been many over the years. while i wouldnt call many of them great, more like standard. the fact is there is a TC for about everything. even more so in the older days when doom was about the only game you could edit well.

i know i have played a few. however i dont know of any grand animie themed TC's

there are better TC's out there. some may be hard to find.

an example of an older TC that was fun was zanzan

check the Id archive. the only really good TC that has a animie feel, or would have that feel. would be HACX, never played it. but seemed sci-fi/animie to me.

If you can track it down (its official site appears to have gone), there is an Otakon 1996 wad, where you play as Priss, of Bubblegum crisis fame (the original that is), and can use some of the weaponary from that series, also the zombified soldiers have been replaced with zombified convention-goers, though thier sprites are horrible (the weapon sprites are great though). Also in doom legacy the wad doesnt end properly, so play it in ZDooM

yea that is a moldy oldy. infact i remember downloading it from AOL before the great columbine doom deletion and when i had AOL in my younger days

So AOL deleted a whole of ton of people's Doom stuff then, not just the killers? Woah, they're even bigger ****suckers than I thought.

There was also a Sailer Moon Doom than included a demo of a 4 player map07 deathmatch. That Bubble Gum Crisis/Priss mod was pretty cool. I'd like to see an anime mod that actually has some maps, but preferably not DBZ or SM.

AOL deleted everything shorty after, it was even reported on DW... i think.

yes AOL is a lame ass company, nothing is good about them. everything they do sucks.

i cant belive may dad still wants to use them... or rather be used by them.

i think they even went thru and deleted all Id games and software

If you ask me, doom and anime aren't very compatible. Cartoony sprites look absolutely horrid. It has to do with the light diminishing. In order for it to look good, IMO, I'd think you'd hafto give all the sectors in the map a light level of either 255 or 0, and just go crazy with the detail to make up for the lack of lighting. But heh, thats just what I think.

EDIT: Actually, an anime TC is going to look gay no matter what.

I think it is possible to do an anime style well in Doom. It's just that few artists have the talent/time/desire to make their anime sprites look good.

Another issuse would be that you'd need a proper series to base a FPS mod off of.

I had an idea of making a Neon Genesis Evangelion mod for the longest time. Of course, Doom could be used, but a more modern engine would be a better choice for it. Come to think of it, XIII cel-shaded graphics were the exact effect I had in mind with the game.

Making an Anime mod in Doom, however, may find the engine far too restricting. However, Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade may just be possible with Doom.

Doom and Splatter movies..now they REALLY fit together!, and splatter movies are what nerds watched before nerdiness became cool..yeah there was an actual time in history when being a nerd was uncool..but then at that time wedge haircuts, huge shades and silver flares where cool..

how many OMG DBZ people do you know of? my highschool was full of them. i am sure others can relate to that. its not that i dislike animie, i just dont see it. like ballet, i dont see it so i dont really have an opinion on it.

I'm not that into anime, but it would probably be pretty cool. Cel shading in the D3 engine would be both cool to look at and WRONG. ;)

I remember than i found in the old anipike a episode 1 replacement of Gatchaman (war of the planets)...
