Games that DID live up to the hype.

Recommended Posts

Yes, that’s right, games that actually delivered what they promised.

I’ll start:
Vice City: (I’ve already gushed about this little gem)

Metal Gear Solid: possibly the first interactive movie that didn’t suck.

Zelda: a link to the past: Alright, so I dismissed this one a little prematurely. It’s just hard to take Nintendo fan boys seriously.

Wolfenstein: ET (still played religiously 2-3 times per week)

Even Zelda 2 was enjoyable, despite being considered by many as the least of the Zelda series.

A lot of the games being listed don't fit the question. Tetris lived up to the hype WTF? It only got any hype after it was released because it was so good.

Of things that actually FIT the description, I would list things like Super Mario Bros. 3, Sonic 2, Super Mario 64, Doom, and Half-Life.

speaking of hype, Driver 3 (or Driv3r if you are retarded, and I think most of you are) is being completely raped for being a piece of shit. Those magazines that listed it as being a good game are being accussed of taking bungs, so astoundingly guff is the game.

Adios Atari.

Everytime I hear something like "live up to the hype" I think of the line from Starfuckers, Inc. that goes "I have arrived and this time you should believe the hype."

Sonic Series
Super Mario World
Mario 64
Sonic Adventure
FF series games (except 9 I thinnk it was)
MK: Deadly Alliance
GTA 3 & Vice City
Magic: the Gathering Battlegrounds
Devil May Cry
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Metroid Prime

And hopefully Doom 3 when it comes out eventually...

I personally wasn't really into Metroid Prime. I do like it somewhat, but for me - come ON, this was a follow-up to Super Metroid (along with Fusion). And out of the two, I would EASILY pick SM over MP.

Yeah...it's happening again.

Hey, if you don't like it, don't fucking listen to it. You know how to ignore, right?

Civilization 3, if you ignore the fact that they took biological warefare out of the game after 9/11.

Also, Fallout and Fallout 2.

Just because a game isn't as good as it's predecessor doesn't make it a bad game. The game was still amazing in it's own right.

Good timing. After watching the 1 hour 5 minute speedrun videos of MP I think I'm just about ready to start on it.

That is some GREAT footage. A must-see for everyone, especially people that have played through it and know what's going on.
