Mogul Posted July 5, 2004 http://pages.infinit.net/voxel/home.htm Check it out. :) 0 Share this post Link to post
Ralphis Posted July 5, 2004 Whenever I hit play it reloads the index page? 0 Share this post Link to post
EllipsusD Posted July 5, 2004 Simply brilliant! Lets take a game requiring an immense amount of precise jumping and give it an awkward camera angle! The kids will love it! 0 Share this post Link to post
Ultraviolet Posted July 5, 2004 Turn off any popup blockers or it won't come up. 0 Share this post Link to post
BuzzyBeetle Posted July 5, 2004 OMG that Metroid thing is soooo confusing, the Y axis is not perpendicular to the X axis! (sarcasm) I guess that when your screen is not perfectly facing you, making a perfect rectangle in your field of vision you can't play any 2d platform games? That's sad, my brain has no problem compensating for the difference in geometry. It's not like you could move Samus in the z axis and miss a platform, everything is on the same plane. Anyway did you try the Rotation demo? http://pages.infinit.net/voxel/metroidrotation.htm It's obvious that the 3/4 isometric angle is a stop-gap measure until a full real-time 3d engine is implemented. Ok enough ranting, if you don't like it you don't like it, weither it's because you don't understand the technical implications and potential is pretty much irrelevant I guess. Real fans of the original seems to love it, and usually they are not kids, kids are spoiled with immersive 3d graphics (like you are?) and see the first Metroid as an overrated clunky game (because they were 2 when the game was released). 0 Share this post Link to post
Epyo Posted July 5, 2004 I have ralphis's problem too, no popup blocker. :( 0 Share this post Link to post

BuzzyBeetle Posted July 6, 2004 You are right Use3d this is the part of the post that I shouldn't have written, I'm usually very carefull about not doing generalisations and presuming how other people are when I don't know them. I take back these words and I'm sorry if I offended anyone here. I guess it was inspired by the over-generalization of the post I was replying to. Now for the problems some have here with an auto-redirection from the metroidcubed.htm to the index page, It's supposed to be fixed right now. There was some javascript to prevent some sites from i-framing the game in their casino and pron ads and I guessed it was the problem, now the code is removed indefinatly. I'm outta here, I hope not to annoy you anymore :) 0 Share this post Link to post
Ultraviolet Posted July 6, 2004 Speaking of generalizations, Doomers generally appreciate classic games, and therefore your generalizations were opposite what one would think they should be. 0 Share this post Link to post
Epyo Posted July 6, 2004 Ok I got it to work, it was pretty good, obviously unfinished. Also more difficult than the original, perhaps because of the controls. Keyboard sucks for platforming, I'll later see if I can configure my joypad for it. 0 Share this post Link to post
