Kaiser Posted July 15, 2004 *Copy/Pasted from my email draft that was sent to news@doomworld.com, apparently, this was never received.. The Offical Strife specs by Rogue is now availible for download. This document contains all the information on how scripts work, enough information to build a compiler for the scripts. This document can be found at SvStrife's page on http://dsv.newdoom.com. Be sure to thank DeeP of SB Software for releasing the specs. Btw, I really don't know, in my opinion, if this will be useful, since Zdoom is already done implenting everything.. And now, self pimpage of my shitty port.. Dsv Outworld (http://dsv.newdoom.com) has been updated with another release of SvStrife, now at Beta 3. The following updates are: -All things/tokens added -Implented alternate scripting -Hubs implented -Fixed soundtarget bug caused by the Shopkeepers -Improved the status bar -Implented/converted some more linedef types -Custom Items Note, that the alternate scripting system is not permanent, and a more accurate scripting system (mainly the one from Vavoom, which I will be looting) will be implented. 0 Share this post Link to post

Szymanski Posted July 15, 2004 Linguica said:Wait, Deep had "official" Strife specs and didn't release them until now? There's a possibilty Rogue didn't want that to happen (like only the Boom team getting the original Dos Doom code). If not holding the info back is pretty asstacular. 0 Share this post Link to post
Graf Zahl Posted July 15, 2004 Who cares? Strife's dialog scripts are so simple in structure that anybody with some knowledge about the game and enough time would be able to figure out the structure. 0 Share this post Link to post

From there he released the specs, and will be releasing the other part on his site whenever he updates it. Although I thought Gokuma requested them a while back, but I have no clue what happened there.. 0 Share this post Link to post

DooMAD Posted July 17, 2004 Yeah, Gokuma knew he had them. I remember a few threads on various sites where he demanded that DeeP released them to the community. 0 Share this post Link to post

I've downloaded the file myself and it doesn't appear to be corrupted. Maybe its the browser? If you got IE, try opening the file from its current location rather than saving it to the hdd.. 0 Share this post Link to post
Ultraviolet Posted July 18, 2004 Heh, if it's opening in MS Word, do NOT view it in Print Layout. The file I downloaded is 53k too, but the text seems to be complete. Ends with a list type deal titled "So to summarize, scripts can..." and then some statement about how technically you can award any THING, but the sensible ones are listed above. In Print Layout, though, I see a massive jumble of text all piled onto one page. Looks fine in Wordpad, too. Dunno what everybody's problem is. This was with IE, by the way. 0 Share this post Link to post

I never realized that until now. Fortunately Doom and Quake editing didn't die... But things are looking grimm for Valve. HL2 has to be the second coming, or else... :) 0 Share this post Link to post
NiGHTMARE Posted July 21, 2004 Ling: Digital Eel's the other one. They're still around, but then they're not really a "proper" games developer, more of a sideproject of Iikka, Rich Carlson and some other anonymous guy. Fanatic: I could be wrong, but I believe he's still at Valve. 0 Share this post Link to post
