Which to upgrade...

Before I get doom3, i'm gonna upgrade my processor or video card. I have a AMD Athlon XP 2200+ 1.8 ghz cpu, and an ATI Radeon 9600 SE 256 MB AGP. My processor comes fairly close to the PC Gamer recommended requirements of 2.0 ghz, so maybe I should leave that alone, but my 9600 SE...I only knew after I bought it that SE is kind of lower than the original, correct? And I think 9600 SE's don't come close to 9800's...

I'm asking your opinions on what I should upgrade, not both, because I still want money to buy doom3. ;)

9800 pro 128 mb is pretty cheap already and is much faster than your 9600 se

Of course 9800 PRO 256 MB would be better, but it's also a lot more expensive. Still, your 9600 SE, 256 MB or not, is a lot slower than 9800 PRO 128 MB.

256 mb means jack shit. Even 256 mb 9800 pros wont run the game much better then 128s, if anything 1-2% better. You have of all things a 9600 then it's an SE which means a shitty version of the 9600, your not in a good spot video card wise right now.

Alrighty, i'll buy a new video card, and luckily for me, the 9800 pro has a $70 rebate at Best Buy, so I can afford both it and Doom3.
