You've got to be kidding me! I have nearly the same specs but nearly twice your processor speed and I'm stuck on 800x600 medium quality!

He's got to be kidding me too. I have a P4 2.6 GHz, 512 mb ram, and a geforce 6800.

I tried the tweak and my timedemos are around 40 fps at medium quality, 640x400, which was about a 15 fps improvement. No more multiplayer for me (it was more annoying than fun anyway, considering what I had to do to get acceptable framerates).

Unzip the .pk4 files as if they were plain .zip files then get rid of them.

So I have to delete the .pk4 file after everything is unzipped? Is unzipping it just a backup or do you unzip them into the folder that the .pk4 file is in to replace them?

Unzip the pk4s into the folder that they're in. Remember to preserve the directory structure. Then delete them. However, this is only going to speed up load times, actual ingame performance won't change much.

Hmm... yeah, the topic is dead on gamefaqs. Could someone please reiterate the tweak?
Thanks

On the perception of animation thing, keep in mind that there is a difference between conscious awareness of difference and actual nervous recognition of the changing image. Nervous recognition is a fuckofalot faster than conscious awareness, because the mind pares off "unnecessary" information. Basically, if your mind can't think fast enough to react to visual stimuli happening faster than a certain rate, it decides that you don't really need to think about it.

It didn't change anything for me...and I did both the PKs and the CONFIG file (and separately).

My specs are:

Pentium 4 - 1.8GHz
60gb hard drive
32x CD-RW drive
Intel Extreme Graphics Controller

I'd rather just buy the necessary hardware upgrades to fix my machine itself. What would I need in terms of hardware to play it legit?

A video card, for starters.

Yeah, I figured as much. The requirements also mention a 3D Accelerator Card too...is that a separate thing? Or is it a type of video card? I don't know much about hardware.

None of this stuff really helps my performance... here's the real deal though. My system shouldn't need any help running this. I think there's something else wrong.
Specs:
-3.2 GHz P4
-256 MB Radeon card
-1.5 GB RAM

When I first got the game, I could run it on Ultra graphics and 1076x768 with all the lighting stuff on and it ran smooth. I wanted to play it again and I reinstalled it, but I can't get it to run smooth now, even when i turn down quality and resolution, or turning the lighting effects off. Any ideas?
