Making doorways/openings

Recommended Posts

How do you make doors/openings in Doomedit? I have a hollow cube for a room, and a second room and want them connected by a doorway. How would I go about doing this/cutting a hole in both rooms to connect them?

Ok
First make your rooms.
Then make a brush of the width and height you want your doorway.
After this move it between the rooms, this brush will symbolise the gap that will be there once you've used the subtract tool, which you should do now.

^^very confusingly put

Basically (in ASCII)
_____ ___
|. . |. . . |
|. . |. . . | Stage 1 - The 2 Rooms
|. . |. . . |
----- ---

_____ ___
|. . |. . . |
|. . #. . . | Stage 2 - The brush (#)
|. . |. . . | in place
----- ---

_____ ___
|. . |. . . |
|. . . . . | Stage 3 - After CSG
|. . |. . . | Subtract
----- ---

Then turn the brush into a func_door with the entities window (acessed with the entities tab in the window where you pick your textures and what have you). Then give it an angle to move in the direction of and set the triggersize.

Im confusing so try and look for some better tutorials or wait for someone else (Laguna, BNA?).

Im only up to alpha labs in D3, i've spent most of my time (since 2 fridays ago) mapping on it. Very fun.

Doom3world.org has a very nice set of video tutorials that helped a bunch. They're stickied in the editing forum there.
