(KSquad)Tone Posted August 25, 2004 I have two computers that were once both running Windows 95. By using an ethernet cable and adjusting the network settings, I was able to link them together so that two people could deathmatch, etc. One computer died, so I purchased another that runs Windows XP. I can link them together to share files and such, but I can't get a linked game of Doom going anymore. Does anyone know if it is possible to link a game between different OS's and if so, what settings are needed to make it work? 0 Share this post Link to post
Rellik Posted August 26, 2004 If you can transmit files back and forth across the network everything should be fine, though WinXP may try blocking communications with it's built in firewall shit. Both computers can see each other fine? 0 Share this post Link to post
bond Posted August 26, 2004 probably you used original doom under win95 with IPX network? in winXP both of them dont work as i understand - use some win32 doom-port instead 0 Share this post Link to post
(KSquad)Tone Posted August 26, 2004 I think you may be correct Rellik...but how do I bypass the firewall? or disable it temporarily? 0 Share this post Link to post
Rellik Posted August 26, 2004 Beats me, I avoid XP like the plague. You could always upgrade to win98. :-) 0 Share this post Link to post
