Clawt Posted September 8, 2004 Yippie! The big four disk box set is out! I just picked it up today! It has the long version, Theatre Version and European Version(edited by Dario Argento) I just finished watching the Long version and its so cool! I still think the Theatre version is better, but the extra footage was fun. Zombies just kick ass! Go buy this now! Maybe (doubtfull) George Will get enough kickback to make Dead Reckoning(or what ever its called now) the movie he wants it to be with out any restrictions. (can dream...) 0 Share this post Link to post

Clawt Posted September 8, 2004 It was watch zombies eat people or eat my self. So I started on a diet... ;) 0 Share this post Link to post
Black Hand Posted September 8, 2004 I didn't really like the new version of Dawn of the dead. Does the extended version show more scenes of the zombies killing humans in cities and such. In otherwords does it extend the first ten minutes of Datd? 0 Share this post Link to post
david_a Posted September 8, 2004 Meh... I just bought the standard Divimax edition and left it at that. A longer version of a movie that's already slightly tediously long plus a butchered version by Argento doesn't really compell me that much. I think my favorite of the series is actually Day nowadays... Apparently it's been renamed AGAIN to "Land of the Dead." Whatever. It appears that it's actually moving forward, however. Apparently he's going for a toned-down theatrical release with a full-blown DVD version (makes sense, since it's basically financial suicide to finance unrated/NC-17 movies - you can't show them anywhere!). Rumours are that Dennis Hopper is interested in a role, and that Savini will get a cameo. Source 0 Share this post Link to post
Sharessa Posted September 8, 2004 Err...is this a DVD of the old version or the new version. Never saw the original version of Dawn. Only Night and Day. 0 Share this post Link to post

Kid Airbag Posted September 9, 2004 The new version is finally out? Fuckin' a! I saw it at a drive-in back in June and I've been waiting and waiting for it to come out on DVD. It seems not many people really like it, but I took it for what it's meant to be, a non-stop thrill ride that's not supposed to be all that deep, and thus I enjoyed it immensely. 0 Share this post Link to post

Did you read the thread!? This is about the 4-disc version of the original! 0 Share this post Link to post
Black Hand Posted September 9, 2004 Heh the original is way better. Thank god, At first I thought this thread was about the crappy new one. 0 Share this post Link to post
deathbringer Posted September 9, 2004 Wasnt the European version name "Zombie"?, cause Lucio Fulci's "Zombi" series (aka Zombie Flesheaters in britian) where supposed to be unofficial sequels to Dawn, but where actually totally different, though Zombi 2 (Zombie Flesheaters) could ALMOST be considered a prequel, Zombi 3 (Zombie flesheaters 2) was just hilarious and stupid ("I'm thirsy...for your blood!"), and had tons of inconsitiences (like zombies are really slow one minute and doing kung-fu moves the next, one person gets bitten by a zombie bird and takes almost 2 days to turn, while a woman who gets bitten by zombie fish turns almost instantly). And zombi 4 (blah blah) was just awful... 0 Share this post Link to post

And zombi 4 (blah blah) was just awful... Dawn of the Dead was released in Italy under the title Zombi. Fulci's POS was called Zombi 2 in a blatant cash-in attempt. I'm not sure that he had anything to do with the rest of them... I seem to recall that he worked on Zombi 3 in the initial stages but jumped ship fairly early. Oh, and I think they got up to Zombi 5... 0 Share this post Link to post

Day is my fav too actually, And yeah the extra footage does drag it on a bit, the only extra stuff that should have been left was when the main characters were being hassled by the cops before they first took off in the chopper. The argento version is really weird! They cut out some really good stuff, but off course left the one booby part! I think i could only watch it drunk, the music is way bad too! I was just skipping around but it was more 'porn' music then anything! 0 Share this post Link to post
