Mushroom Cloud Over Korea

Recommended Posts

Oh god, this can't possibly be good. I hope this story is either a hoax or a great exaggeration of what really happened.

What were you saying about third grade comments again?

Third Grade comments in response to an opinion, not as in, "Oh shit! The Koreans have nukes."

You don't need a nuclear bomb to create a mushroom cloud. A large amount of conventional explosives will do as well.

If you take seismographic (sp?) evidence from seismometers in the area, a large spike would be more indicative of a nuclear blast, whereas many smaller spikes would be indicative of conventional ordinance.

It might be an explosion done by NK to make us think they have a nuke even though it was just a lot of explosives going off, maybe to make the US fear them now or something?

Apparently the explosion occured extremely near to the North Korea/Chinese border, making it extremely unlikely that it was a nuclear test (they wouldn't want to risk upsetting their only remaining ally).

And 'smart'.

So, about this explosion thing... exactly what kind of explosion was this here? Some sort of devastating thing where lots of people died, or something that people see miles away and go "huh, how about that"?

A news article said:

John Bellini, a geophysicist at the U.S. Geological Survey in Golden, Colorado, said his organisation had not detected an explosion large enough to be considered nuclear.

"If it was a nuclear bomb, that would have been detected by everybody in the world," he said. A blast involving a conventional bomb would have been too small to detect, he said.

How about that?

Give 'em a break. They brought us a form of Martial Arts, and in return we run them so far below the poverty line they get to eat boiled grass.

Lets not forget that fifthy years ago the US committed genocide and killed one fifth of the North Korea population. North Korea has been boycotted eversince, leading to even more deaths. And now Bush is threatening to invade...

Can you really blame North Korea for fearing/ hating the US?

Ok, do you think we could conduct simulations to figure out what other type of explosion could produce a mushroom cloud like that?

Excuse? We need excuses now?

Considering the genocide and boycott, we could just say we need to invade to "finish the job". That's why we're in Iraq, isn't it? Or we could just scribble their name into that "Axis of Evil" and hope nobody notices. Oh, wait... how did that get there...?

Condoleeza Rice said that there was nothing to suggest that it was nuclear related. But, seeing as how Condoleeza Rice is stunningly incompetent...

It is already in, Bush named Iraq-Iran-North Korea as the axis of evil in his state of the union address Jan 2002. If I remember correctly other states were miffed at not being included :P

Bitter after being snubbed for membership in the "Axis of Evil," Libya, China, and Syria today announced they had formed the "Axis of Just as Evil," which they said would be way eviler than that stupid Iran-Iraq-North Korea axis President Bush warned of his State of the Union address.

Axis of Evil members, however, immediately dismissed the new axis as having, for starters, a really dumb name. "Right. They are Just as Evil... in their dreams!" declared North Korean leader Kim Jong-il. "Everybody knows we're the best evils... best at being evil... we're the best."

Diplomats from Syria denied they were jealous over being excluded, although they conceded they did ask if they could join the Axis of Evil.

"They told us it was full," said Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

"An Axis can't have more than three countries," explained Iraqi President Saddam Hussein. "This is not my rule, it's tradition. In World War II you had Germany, Italy, and Japan in the evil Axis. So you can only have three. And a secret handshake. Ours is wicked cool."
