sgtcrispy Posted October 7, 2004 heh... Found this on ebay via /. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6929793723 /me gets some serious nostalgia wood. 0 Share this post Link to post
Gokuma Posted October 8, 2004 What the hell?! I'm seen some insane collections before but... WTF?! Are rich assholes hording the already insanely hard as hell to get ultra rare stuff just to sell them in bulk? EDIT: Ah I thought I saw PC-Engine Duo but fortunately he wasn't hording any of them. It was some weird JVC imitation of Sega CD I've never seen before. But those and the Sega CDX ( http://imagehost.auctionwatch.com/preview/sa/sauchez/game2.jpg ) are still rare. 0 Share this post Link to post
Sharessa Posted October 8, 2004 At first, I just saw the list and thought it was one of each. I was like "pffft, that's not much" cause I have a friend who has NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, PS2, X-Box, GBA, GB SP, a Genesis I think, and he used to have a Dreamcast. But then I looked at the pictures and fucking Hell. The dude even has Virtual Boys. MULTIPLE Virtual Boys. 0 Share this post Link to post
Gokuma Posted October 8, 2004 The guy is certainly an asshole for hording all those 8-bit Nintendos. I know of a place that price gouges and sells them for as much as $80 a piece and still $70 for ones you have to mess with to get to work. They charge $150 for the shitty top loaders that have crappy RF connection only with faint diagonal lines going through the video. I've heard of NES being impossible to get at Fucnoland because employees would buy them up as soon as they came in. Of course Fucnoland now only known as Gamestop no longer accepts older stuff or even Dreamcast anymore now. Fortunately I still have my NES from 1988 that works better than new with its replacement connector. 0 Share this post Link to post
Sephiroth Posted October 8, 2004 good god..... now i have seen everything! jesus, how can one person have so much? unless he owned a store that sold this stuff. i dont see why anyones needs 8 dreamcast systems. 0 Share this post Link to post
Bloodshedder Posted October 8, 2004 Wait why was this in Blogs? Moving 0 Share this post Link to post
AndrewB Posted October 8, 2004 Hmm, they seem to have sold for a final price of $11,500. I guess it seems like a deal. 0 Share this post Link to post
S1lent Posted October 8, 2004 Seen it... Probably some private business is gonna buy it. Either that or some guy's gonne buy it and sell each one seperately for an incredibly high price. 0 Share this post Link to post
insertwackynamehere Posted October 8, 2004 Heh let me get this straight: 1. Original system brand new, top of the line, etc. Very expensive. 2. System soon deemed obsolete by newer technology, sold for much lower prices, sometimes going down to below $20 if used. 3. System soon becomes so obsolete that people begin to pay more money just to see how bad it really is. 4. Systems that are so old and wortless (besides nostalgic value) are worth thousands of dollars. Newest top of the line system is ~$200. wtf 0 Share this post Link to post
wildweasel Posted October 8, 2004 (This was originally a post, but Weasel's breath has been taken by the ridiculously low price for the 290 consoles and who-knows-how-many games. Help. Please.) 0 Share this post Link to post
Job Posted October 8, 2004 Hey, my older brother has a comparable collection, but it's just rotting in a warehouse somewhere. 0 Share this post Link to post
DOOM Anomaly Posted October 8, 2004 Job said:Hey, my older brother has a comparable collection, but it's just rotting in a warehouse somewhere. Unacceptable! He could be either: a) Playing every game he can dream of while laughing at everyone and their emulators. b) Sell them for a lot of money to put in a bank to rot. c) Give it to you so you can either a), b) or put it in your own storage to rot. 0 Share this post Link to post
Sephiroth Posted October 8, 2004 some people like to horde shit i guess. be it game systems, tooth paste, dildos, money, bricks.... you name it and i bet there is a person on this planet hordeing it. one of my uncles has every drawer, cubord and box filled with porn 0 Share this post Link to post

BlueSonnet Posted October 8, 2004 Good lord O_O This guy has too much money and time on his hands. I thought the bid price would be higher though. 0 Share this post Link to post
david_a Posted October 8, 2004 I, for one, am not impressed by his collection. Not a single SNK system!!! Where's the Neo-Geo AES, NGCD, NGCDZ, MVS, Pocket, Pocket Color?!?!? No Phillips CD-i? No Turbo GFX 16? He doesn't even seem to have an Atari Jaguar! (he only mentions the "CD add on") Shameful, I tell you! 0 Share this post Link to post
m0l0t0v Posted October 8, 2004 $80-$125 Atari 2600's!! Ha! I bought one a month ago in a dump-store for 5 euros, including 2 controllers, and a bunch of games. 0 Share this post Link to post

Udderdude Posted October 8, 2004 Gee, and here I thought the point of videogames was to play them, not horde hardware till you've taken up an entire spare room. I wonder what games this guy actually plays? Or if he even plays games at all? :/ Oh well, atleast he'll be making some money off of it. 0 Share this post Link to post

wildweasel Posted October 8, 2004 Despite the fact that it's only in red, there were actually quite a few good games for the VIrtual Boy - the version of Wario Land was spectacular, as was Mario Clash. 0 Share this post Link to post
david_a Posted October 8, 2004 I didn't like any of the games I played, but granted, that was only a handful. There was some space shoot-em-up, virtual tennis, ... and more, but obviously they didn't leave a lasting impression. That damn thing hurt my eyes, though. I don't know how Nintendo expected this thing to be a major success... Definatly a niche product if I ever saw one. 0 Share this post Link to post
Sephiroth Posted October 8, 2004 yea if you didn't set the virtual boy correctly it could damage your eyes. maybe if it was a face mask it might have done better. it was unconfortable. we owned one for a grand total of 3 days before my grand mother returned it. we got it for $25 buck as a clearance item at a Wal-Mart. i am surprised there wasnt a jaguar or an Xbox in there, maybe there was an Xbox and i missed it. like i said the guy most likly owned a small business. if not he is eaither really rich, OCD or a theif 0 Share this post Link to post
SYS Posted October 8, 2004 I wish I didn't get rid of my NES and all 200andsomeodd# of carts that I had. But I got well over 1500, roms on my emulator so I guess it isn't so bad. 0 Share this post Link to post
Sharessa Posted October 8, 2004 Heh, Virtual Boy. Man, what a pain hat was. I think they made 5 games for it before they went "you know, this is retarded" and cancelled it. Yeah, WTF is up with the lack of XBoxes? That's probably my favorite console of all time. 0 Share this post Link to post
Gokuma Posted October 8, 2004 It's probably not cost-effective to ship X-Boxes due to their size and weight. 0 Share this post Link to post
NightmareZer0 Posted October 8, 2004 I see he was nice enough to include 8 paperweights 0 Share this post Link to post
