Snarboo Posted October 28, 2004 Miniature Species of Humans discovered. Looks like we're adding a new addition to the ol' family tree. What's startling about this is that maybe our tales of "little people" weren't just based in imagination and folk lore after all. Now all we need are an elf, a dwarf and a wizard and our journey to Middle Earth will be set! 0 Share this post Link to post
Sephiroth Posted October 28, 2004 yea i was reading about that last night. there are alot more to hamans than what most people think. some people don't want to think about it. The current species of humans, us, also is not the one who had the largest brain. neanderthals got that honor. if i recall there brain was about 100cm3 larger. however larger brain doesn't mean better. just as the pentium pro isn't better than a P4, the Pentium pro is like 6 P4's if you don't know much about them. this species was tiny. i wonder what they looked like. one think i always get a kick out of is when religious groups get the news and add their spin to it. everything from imbreeding, mutated monkeys, desease and demons. also add in conspiacies about other religions trying to undo them 0 Share this post Link to post
Foofoo Posted October 28, 2004 its interesting. Its like all those legends of elves and 'little people' from the middle ages might not be completely bullshit afterall. Maybe what they saw was a dying race of midgets, or something. 0 Share this post Link to post
Scuba Steve Posted October 28, 2004 Impossible, the earth is only 8000 years old. 0 Share this post Link to post
Bashe Posted October 28, 2004 No the Earth is only 14! What a weird discovery. 0 Share this post Link to post
sargebaldy Posted October 28, 2004 Wikipedia put this together on these guys yesterday. 0 Share this post Link to post
Job Posted October 28, 2004 Sephiroth said:i wonder what they looked like.Hmm...maybe like a dwarf version of homo erectus, perhaps? I find it amusing that after one fairly complete skeletal find, the scientists structure a whole anthropological background for the remains. It was probably just a dwarf homo erectus, they probably know it, and yet they get a scientific hard-on because of all the speculative possibilities. Meh, they're probably just glorified apes. 0 Share this post Link to post
NiGHTMARE Posted October 28, 2004 Did you even bother reading the article? They've found bones from seven of these guys, not just one. It's just that one skeleton is far more intact than the others. Even if it was just a group of homo erectus with an unusually high rate of dwarfism (itself worthy of scientific investigation), it still raises the question of how they got to the island in the first place. Oh, and the skeleton of a species of human other than homosapien dating from only 12,000 years ago is an incredible scientific find too! 0 Share this post Link to post

Meh, they're probably just glorified apes. But the characteristics of the species vary enough from erectus to lead most to believe that it is an entirely different species. These "little people" seem to have a mismash of characteristics from the various members of the genus Homo. However, until any DNA tests are performed, we won't be sure what these little people were exactly. 0 Share this post Link to post

Sephiroth Posted October 29, 2004 that might be a good comedy. a guy hitting one with a bat. of course i am sure some twisted LOTR fan out there already has hobbit porn up. I am surprised that furry porn never reached the "hominid" errotica. however who the hell know. Its not something i am gonna go look for. Seriously is there a fetish that doesn't exsist. i am sure there are people turned on by mouse balls and soap. anyways i think they have been studing this sence 2003. it is a new species however where it belongs may prove a debate. it could be and most likly was a subspecies for homo erectus or homo sapien. however it is possible that it is from another race we havn't discovered. most people don't realize how much the enviroment has changed in the last 150,000 years. humans, just like everything else conform to the rules of nature and evoultion. I am sure there are many other species we have yet to find. I would love to get news that there was another species still alive and well. personaly i would almost rather go back in time and see different species of humans than go back and see dinosaurs. 0 Share this post Link to post
Relica Religia Posted October 29, 2004 Wow, so Tolkien's books are based on true stories, I'm sure of it now. 0 Share this post Link to post
SYS Posted October 29, 2004 I seen an artist rendition in me newspaper yesterday. They just drew a human body and stuck a monkeys head on it. Very imaginative. I'd hate to be surrounded by those 'lil buggers, especially if they all had sharp objects. They said that because the bones were found in such damp conditions that they the consistency of mashed potatoes. Which makes me wonder if possibly the bones were in the dampness for so long they might've shrunk in size. This is also another one those finds that makes hardcore christians scream "EVOLUTION!? BLASPHEMY! OFF WITH HIS FUCKING HEAD!" EDIT:Just because some wankers find a new ancient human relative and call it a hobbit, don't mean there really were hobbits! 0 Share this post Link to post
Sephiroth Posted October 29, 2004 imagine a run in with the 9 foot fella. he and all his 1000 pound glory. however i have heard that it may have fed exclusivly on plants like bamboo due to the large jaws and teeth. you can tell alot about an animals from its teeth and jaws. 0 Share this post Link to post
