Chronoteeth Posted December 6, 2004 Does anyone here have a grandparent that plays games? I have one, she's in her late 60's, plays RPGs and platformers, and tomarro, were both getting R&C3. 0 Share this post Link to post
S1lent Posted December 7, 2004 Nope... I wish mine did though. My grandparents just say "It's terribile the kinds of things these video games are teaching children today." everytime they see me play a game on my XBOX. 0 Share this post Link to post
Quast Posted December 7, 2004 I used to have a friend whos grandpa was big into zelda and metroid games...I do believe he enjoyed metal gear solid as well 0 Share this post Link to post

Remilia Scarlet Posted December 7, 2004 My grandpa used to love to play Tetris, but can't simply because he can't see the screen that well. But he does love to watch me play videogames, especially the violent ones. My mom loves to play, though. She's wanted to DM me in Doom for a while now, and can beat me at Soul Calibur sometimes. 0 Share this post Link to post
Chronoteeth Posted December 7, 2004 Oh that reminds me of the time my mum stayed up to 2:00 trying to beat FF7. 0 Share this post Link to post
Sephiroth Posted December 7, 2004 my grandmother played atari, that was it. and the games that come with windows. other than that, she doesn't play anythign eles 0 Share this post Link to post
Manc Posted December 7, 2004 Grandparents that don't play video games will slowly become a thing of the past. When you're all older you'll be talking about what games your grandkids are playing. 0 Share this post Link to post

"Back in my day, you didn't put on some fancy-pants helmet that interfaced directly to your brain, making the most realistic simulations ever devised by mankind, no sir. We got carpal fucking tunnel from jerking our mouses to and fro and got eye-strain from staring at a big-ass monitor all day. We can't hear that well either, due to kick-ass 5.1 surround sound. Fuck olfactory stimulators and all that fancy jazz, gimme OpenGL any day! And our damn porn didn't interact with us either, we had to get off manually, you slacker! If you jerked off more you'd have muscles, you pasty nerd!" 0 Share this post Link to post
Chronoteeth Posted December 7, 2004 Oh these young whippersnappers! Using thier "VR Helmets" And thier "Visual sensory gloves"! Back in my day, we didn't have all this fancy smanct crap! We had controllers, mouses, and WSAD Damnit! 0 Share this post Link to post
Bucket Posted December 7, 2004 "Visual sensory gloves"? Who is that for, Helen Keller? ... Yeah, my Mom-Mom owns a Gameboy. She's in her 80's, and she plays mostly puzzle games like Tetris or anything that doesn't require too much of an attention span. Pop-Pop isn't really into that kind of thing, but he's a hell of a card addict and can kick my ass at Chess. Unfortunately, my Grandmom on my dad's side isn't much into anything except collecting dolls-- but she's a mean bitch and she'll tell you. She also has a solid right hook. 0 Share this post Link to post
MikeyScoots Posted December 7, 2004 My grandma's religious(you obviously know this means she's doesnt play games), my mom absolutely dispises games and can't stand any of them except Mario Party and Mario Kart, and my Dad plays here and there sometimes if it's a good game. Seems I'm the only one in the house who plays games nonstop I guess. *50 years from now* Grandson/Granddaughter- Hey grandpa look I'm playing Final Fantasy 59! Me- Back in my time we used to play the old Final Fantasys my boy/girl. Yep, we talking back when the first one came out! With all that amazing 8-bit graphics and awesome battle system. Grandson/Granddaughter- That's so lame grandpa! 0 Share this post Link to post
NiGHTMARE Posted December 7, 2004 Neither of my two remaining grandparents even own a computer (and one can barely figure out how to change the channels on his sky digibox), but a moderator on a Baldur's Gate 2 forum I visit became a grandma last month. Anyway, considering more and more people are becoming grandparents in their 30's and 40's, it's probably pretty common. I'm sure there are numerous gaming great grandparents, and even a few gaming great great grandparents out there. 0 Share this post Link to post
Scientist Posted December 7, 2004 I doubt my grandparents even know what video games are. They know their card games though. They don't really follow new developments; they don't have a VCR/DVD, computer or CD player. 0 Share this post Link to post
fodders Posted December 7, 2004 Modders and I both play, and are grandparents, Ball Catcher is our grandson and plays in ZDaemon. 0 Share this post Link to post

One: you are damn cool grandparents for playing games. Two: You're inspiring me to do the same when I'm older. 0 Share this post Link to post
Johnny Posted December 7, 2004 My American History teacher once told us that he didn't grade our tests because he was playing San Andreas "for like 8 hours." 0 Share this post Link to post
SYS Posted December 8, 2004 My grandpa once watched me play Grand Theft Auto 3 two Christmas' ago, as I was blowing shit up and killing people, and told me "This is bullshit." I was laughing for like 2 minutes afterwards. 0 Share this post Link to post
-Jk- Posted December 9, 2004 None of my grandparents play any games. They hardly know what a computer is. My dad is a die-hard Windows Solitaire fan though. 0 Share this post Link to post
wildweasel Posted December 10, 2004 My dad plays games, though he could be considered much more casual than he was in his prime (heck, he beat episode 3 of Wolfenstein 3D on "I Am Death Incarnate" back in '93). Nowadays he plays some PopCap games (Zuma, Big Money) and World of Warcraft. 0 Share this post Link to post
Stealthy Ivan Posted December 10, 2004 My grandpa plays Zelda link to the past for snes all the time... All of my other grandparents are gone... 0 Share this post Link to post

188DarkRevived Posted December 14, 2004 Well, one of my dad's friends is all gray-haired, and in his 60s already, and he admits that he used to play Doom2 back in 1995...He even says that his wife gave it to him as a birthday gift. Too bad he doesn't know anything about running custom WADs... He doesn't seem to show any interest in those :( 0 Share this post Link to post
ljdemon Posted December 14, 2004 My grandparents disagree with video games, first time they seen one was when I played Twisted Metal 2. My dad played Wolfenstein back in the day and stll does, he's 51. 0 Share this post Link to post
