[newproject] The Serpent Riders are back!

Yep, it's about time I announced my latest project, Serpent: Resurrection - a ZDoom Hexen adventure!

Features include:

    25 creative and realistic maps
    3 new weapons for each character, bringing the total up to 7
    2 new mana types for the aforementioned weapons
    An RPG system, complete with attributes and level breaks
    A magic system, with spells and an attribute to cast them
    A monetary system, so you can buy/sell items
    A ton of new items, both usable and puzzle
    A ton of extra monsters, both old and new
    And all 3 Serpent Riders together in the same adventure!

This makes me horny. No, really.

If you aren't doing something like recycling old maps like I did with HOC, 25 is way too many. I would say 15 is a better number, and just make them a bit longer. That's enough for 3 hubs.

That's nuts .. you'll be adding 9 new weapons total. I hope you'll be recycling some Heretic weapons, or it'll take you forever.

Easy enough to do, with zDoom :B

I don't think this is nessecary, but you can try it. It worked in Strife, sortof :p

How is this going to work? You select spells from a menu or something? I think it would be better to just add new items that do what the spells do.

This shouldn't be too hard with zDoom.

Sounds good .. if the items actually get used. :X

New monsters from scratch? Will you take some from Hexen II? :P

Easy enough to do .. too bad Korax is a big wimp :P

Yipes, sounds great, you just announced it, but I can't wait.
BTW, are you planning to use Eidolon model converted into sprites from EBDoom, or something else. Any chance for a higher demon than the Serpent Riders.

Where's Ichor?

Are there going to be any summoning spells? Possibly for the wizard, I think it be neat being able to conjure up an imp or something to fight with you.

Only one from Heretic, and that's a replacement not a new.

Scrolls. (and a magic attribute to cast them) A menu will be used, but for displaying and improving attributes.

If I can make it work, yes. (I think I know how to, but obviously untested)

Heh, I've got 30 different weapon effects to code, draw and sound-ify before my own hexen weapon mod is complete. So between this and mine you're going to be spoiled rotten :D (although I'm heavily recycling lots of existing raven themes unlike TUD, so maybe I've less work)

Judging by your previews works I believe you are capable of doing this.
Is it posible to add a fourth class (Corvus) in Zhexen? Zdoom has changed a lot in the last months, I'm a bit outdated with that info.

Oh an please include Zedek, Menelkir, and Traductus, and if it's not that much work, the four horsmen.

If along the development of this mod you need help on something drop me a line, I'm currently working in other mod, but I'll see what can I do, I'd love to help. Oh, and please, don't use monsters from DOOM like in certain Heretic mod, they don't seem to fit in my opinion.

It's not possible to add a new class, although NiGHTMARE is working on some new character classes that replace the existing ones.

Hmm. There are some things you must add in the source to create a new class, but it may be possible to convert the existing code to a more generic format.

If I can figure that out, then I will ask Randy if he wants to add it.
