what programs out there allow easy conversion of audio formats to others? like wma to mp3 to ogg, etc.

music isn't my area so i am not too sure. however something like that could be useful

CDex (http://cdex.sourceforge.net/) can handle MP3 to OGG and back (provided you convert them to WAV first) but I'm not sure about if it handles WMA's.

thanks, that is a really good program. while i dont think it covers converting formats it does a great job at ripping

Quite the understatement, CDex is the best program Í've ever seen for that task, and it's open source.

There are also cracks for this program floating around the web... which off course is unfair towards the builders...

I use audacity to convert formats but it loads wav files slowly and is incapable of playing them smoothly without skipping. I have an old 700mhz with 128mb ram but there's no excuse for the shitty playback with that software.
