I cant wait until they ban smoking in public places here. I am so sick of people polluting my air.

They have in a few cities in Colorado, where it's illegal in most public places. It's pretty nice. In one city, it's even illegal to smoke in bars.

I smoked from my 15th till my 32th. I smoked about a pack a day (marlboro, camel, lucky strike). A gave up smoking january 1 2004. As soon as they find a cure for cancer I will start again.

The top 3 reasons I stopped:

1. Health reason
2. Allways looking for a place to smoke in public places
3. Bad example for my kids.

You seem to be under the impression it is your god given right to shun people away with offending smells. What if I fart in your face for several minutes? Will you let me?

What? Shut up. That's almost as stupid as one of my family members telling me to get out of my own home if I can't handle the lousy stench of their stupid ciggarettes.

You people who can't stand 2nd hand smoke are pussies. Seriously, unless there is smoke billowing into your face, it's not very annoying. And if it is, just step a foot to the right or something. And never go to an AA meeting. :P

I usually don't complain. I just feel that I should be able to breath clean air in my own home, is all. I could care less about public places, frankly. I thought that's why they had separate areas for smokers and non smokers in restaurants and all that.

second hand smoke is screening the real causes of cancer in non-smokers. Yet no one is talking about banning cars. I'd have to smoke a thousand ciggies a day to generate anywhere near the same ammount of poisons that the average joe makes during his five mile drive to his local supermarket.

Strange that.

I only smoke cigarettes after I'm stoned. I don't even finish them, 2 or 3 puffs and I'm done.

Oh, I hate cars too. I don't drive, walk/run everywhere, even if it's 15 km away. (training to run half marathons is a hobby of mine)

Some of you can stand second hand smoke, more power to you and all. I am not even going to dwelve in the harm it does to the body, for it is the actual smell that drives me nuts. It sticks to fabric, to your clothes, it infects your mouth and dries the roof of the cave, it lasts for hours in a room, it lingers even when you're holding your breath and trying to avoid a smoker in the street.

It all comes to a sense being attacked with something nasty. Like to watch pictures of rotting vaginas decomposing under a crust of necrotic fungus? Like to stick your arm inside a bucket of slugs and furiously crawling baby roaches and feel them with your fingers? Enjoy a square wave at 15khz blasting through 120w speakers?

That stupid smoke is just as bad.

Your home your rules and i am the last to not respect this, but if someone rants me to stop smoking on a public street i would say some nice packed version of "Piss Off". The nicer they ask the nicer the version of "No" ;)
If they ask me to smoke somewhere else, thats ok.

heres a lil off topic fact yet similar as well, cars pollute so scientists in enviromental groups say. people have commited suicide using a hose and a muffler and built a gas chamber. gas ultimately kills and to my knowledge witch isnt much or none at all thinks that nothing can live in it, well nothing can live in what the cars shoots out of its ass, or is that a paradox i just created or a funny?. what i know is nothing and that s a fact, i wonder if a gas or what it is that floats around and makes us age and die or gives us dease is like a layer to a pretty picture, distorting it and merged and there is no undo

I agree. Many places already banned it here; public transport and many public establishments, especially. At my workplace it's banned. On the other building we were at before they moved us people could smoke outside, but that meant having people hanging out around the entrance, smoking there in the way... at the new place they don't allow that, at least.

Private establishments such as bars for adults should be able to decide on a case by case basis whether to allow smoking and how, but in most service providing establishments, smoking shouldn't be allowed, nor at workplaces with many people, unless it's in a totally open environment. Smoking is toxic and sooty stuff that no one should be subjected to for long periods unless they want it.

Nothing, I just perfer regular. Like I said, I usually smoke menthol when I'm high, so, being in jail where I can't get high, it sucked having menthols. Reminded me too much of the things I loose in life when I commit a crime and get caught.

Reguarding banning smoking in public places: in my opinion it's an issue just as touchy as abortions or homosexuality. On one hand, you have a whole lot of people complaining about it, and on the other hand people are still going to do it. Not to mention there is a point where it becomes socialism (i.e. the government knows best and tells you how to live your life) which would eventually lead to the more extream side of it, facism (i.e. you will do what the government says...or die).

That's why I always liked restaraunts that had the option. If you, like me, can't go without a cigarette before, after, and sometimes during a meal, then you probably don't mind being in a separate section of the restaraunt. I know I don't mind. I'll respect people's wishes as long as they respect mind (i.e., I'm going to smoke whether they like it or not, but if they ask me respectfully to leave their vicinity then I will. It's all a matter of tolerance and respect.

As for the car issue, well, did you know that volcano erruptions produce more chemicals and destroy the ozone more than all the car emmisions in the world in a year? Or it might be ten years. Or something. But basically, cars and cigarettes are not nearly as devistating as mother nature. She's a bitch. :)

I used to enjoy tabacco occaisionally, but never got hooked. I use to really love smoking those wine tipped, rum dipped, Colt cigars with the plastic filter thingies on 'em. Now I feel all sick and queasy if I so much as take a drag of anything tabacco. Which I suppose is a good thing.

Aww, you don't want other people polluting your body? Once you get educated on the matter, you'll realize that you'd have to live in a bubble... or you can, yaknow, SUCK IT UP.

Of course, this gives us greenlight to try to top her off, and beat her in her own game. Because we're humans and proud and shit.

Besides, since Nature already pushes this to the absolute limit of its delicate balance, hey, why not contribute a bit? It's not like we compare to geological emmisions.

You sound like one of those people who think "the govenrment" is some sort of alien entity overshadowing humanity. It's called peer pressure. Laws can't be enforced unless they are to a good degree representative of enough combined social power. You can contrast the government with "the people," I'll contrast the the chance to not have someone exhale toxic fumes in your face with corporate products spam.

Well, you wish. It's more like smokers do their thing in bubbles, nowadays.

Smoking should be banned everywhere where it may disturb non-smokers. Tobacco is just a vile abomination.
