Yeah, I agree that the Brains were pathetic. Awesome design, but they weren't exactly helpful to the Strogg cause . . .

can you tell us what parts you scatch built and what parts were sculpted :)

I redid most of the photos this morning. They're a little better . . . I guess.

MasterofPuppets: Yep, I was thinking Johnny5 too about the eyes.

Shapeless: I cut some flat shapes out of styrofoam for detailing (panels on the metal, the rings on the ringed tubes, things like that). The chest/body and lower arms are primarily cardboard constructs (the geometry for the body was rather nasty to figure out and had me frustrated/scratching my head for a while). The upper arms, hook hands, tentacles, most of the legs, and waist were modeled by hand. The cylindrical shapes for the eyes I molded off of a Crayola marker and a bottle rocket stick.

the new pics look much bloodier, through the old ones had a dark quake 2 like lighting. :)

Japanese tentacle hentai definitely crossed my mind when I was constructing Mr. Brains gropey tendrils. I actually did take a picture of the Brains attacking my Resaurus Jungle Marine Athena action figure - but it came out pretty crappy, so I didn't use it. :)
