A few other prominent genres: - Real-time Strategy (e.g. Command and Conquer, Warcraft, Dungeon Keeper) - Turn-based Strategy (e.g. Civilization, Heroes of Might & Magic, Age of Empires) - Adventure (e.g. Monkey Island, Space Quest, Broken Sword) - Action (e.g. Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia, the Suffering) Then there's arcade games, flight sims, space combat, driving games, sports games, and all sorts of other stuff. Almost all of the above also have very distinct sub-grenres of their own. For example, there are two different types of RPG: Action RPG (Diablo, Dungeon Siege, X-Men Legends), and Story-Driven RPG (Baldur's Gate, Planescape: Torment, Elder Scrolls). Actually, elder scrolls is a story-driven action RPG - even deeper :P And on that mentioning, get Dosbox and The Elder Scrolls: Arena (it's freeware) 0 Share this post Link to post
Submerge Posted July 8, 2005 Descent: Freespace (IMO this game is more like a flight simulator, NOT an fps) Starcraft Diablo 2 Endorfun (Wish I had the full version of it.... must be the subliminal messages) Outcast (adventure! woo!) Carmageddon Peasant's Quest Duke Nukem 2 (OMG it's not 3d!) Electro Man (I only played the shareware T_T) A lot of games above are ones i'd have picked for my list but wouldn't have thought of. This group has good taste, really. 0 Share this post Link to post
