Scero Posted August 15, 2005 Looks fine to me. Does it generate some kind of error message? Try dragging the wad file you want to play and drop it on gledge32.exe. 0 Share this post Link to post
nathannathan Posted August 15, 2005 yes there is an error but only if i drag it onto gledge32.exe, if i use run. all that happpens i hear the "windows error ding" then it just goes to desktop. the error is " DDF: File must start with a tag! error occurred near line 1 of DDFLANG any idea's ? 0 Share this post Link to post
Lobo Posted August 15, 2005 What version of EDGE are you using? Sounds to me like you have incorrect DDF getting passed into EDGE: Make sure you don't have any stray ddf files in your EDGE directory. I assume you haven't been modifying the edge.wad by hand, right? And this ct-tun2.wad: Is that the one by Chronoteeth? I've tried this wad myself and it works with no problems. If you show us a copy of your edge.log just after a crash that would help. 0 Share this post Link to post
nathannathan Posted August 15, 2005 yes it is the one by chronoteeth and it says to use edge rc1 which is what i'm using and i tried rc2 also. thanks so far 0 Share this post Link to post

Lobo Posted August 15, 2005 Hmmmm... Wierd! OK, On my computer it runs OK. However, I see that inside CT-Tun2.wad the DDFLANG entry has some rubbish characters at the very beginning of the lump, which on my pc are ignored by EDGE thus allowing the wad to run, but on your box EDGE is choking on them. Solution: Open CT-Tun2.wad with XWE, click on the DDFLANG lump and delete the first line of text in the lump (on my PC it looks like "//") Let me know if that fixes it. 0 Share this post Link to post
RjY Posted August 15, 2005 Could this be because of differing system default character encodings? One of you has Western ISO8859-1 and the other UTF-8, for example 0 Share this post Link to post
nathannathan Posted August 16, 2005 LOBO THANK YOU !! that worked deleting that first line. Thanks so much i've really wanted to play this for awhile. Its no immoral conduct but its still damn awsome. I hope there are much more weapon mods for edge in the future with heaps of weapons and reloading for all of them. Thanks agian ! 0 Share this post Link to post
Lobo Posted August 16, 2005 nathannathan: you're welcome. Glad I could be of help! RjY said:Could this be because of differing system default character encodings? One of you has Western ISO8859-1 and the other UTF-8, for example Almost definitely. I'd say that on his PC one of those junk characters is being "translated" as a < or > which is why EDGE goes nuts at that point (it's expecting <DDF_HEADER_TAG>) 0 Share this post Link to post

Grazza Posted August 17, 2005 Ask one of the Admins, stating what you'd like as your new name. 0 Share this post Link to post
Chrono_T Posted August 18, 2005 Hmm, never encounted that error before.... Anyways, good to know that it's fixed. Nice to see a complaint about my mod. :P 0 Share this post Link to post
nathannathan Posted August 18, 2005 haha nah you've made a good bunch of mods. Making any now ? if so put lots of bullet weapons in it, or how bout a mafia mod or a western. 0 Share this post Link to post
Chrono_T Posted August 18, 2005 I was thinking along the lines of demon this time. Have you tried me, xeno's, and TDA's colab mod The Arms of Oblivion? Or my latest, alpha? :P 0 Share this post Link to post
nathannathan Posted August 21, 2005 yes i have played The Arms Of Oblivion (very addictive and fun, but the pistol-grenade launcher thing takes way to long to reload) and whats this new alpha you speak of? 0 Share this post Link to post
