Political Compass

Recommended Posts

It's pretty meaningless, but a fun thing to do.

I scored:

Economic Left/Right: -3.13
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.74

This puts me in the same quadrant as Ghandi, Nelson Mandela, and the Dalai Lama, except I'm a little more moderate than they are.

I'm sorry to say but we've done this like 3 times... search political compass and you'll see.

Here's a copy/paste of mine from a previous time when this came up:

Economic Left/Right: 1.50
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -4.15

I found it a bit of a joke though. For most of the questions I was tossing a coin between Agree and Disagree, and my real answer would have been "It depends", "That's an oversimplification" or "You're loading the question too much".

Anyway, of the British politicians, it put me closest to Charles Kennedy, which is definitely ridiculous!

I think both these have been skewed quite a lot by the legalizing drugs issue. I favour legalizing drugs, but for law and order reasons rather than libertarian ones.

I could probably take it again, think more carefully about my answers, and get a much different score.

I've taken this test about 3 or 4 times, but I like retaking it to see if my views change.

Economic Left/Right: -8.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -8.05

Yeah, that's about the same.

Woah, I guess I'd better not show may face around here any more.
But I did Strongly Agree to legalising your precious weed.
(Yes, let the fools have their weed while I get my 'Vote.', then the plan is set in motion... Mwahahahahahahahaha!)

Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.33

Last time the social score was almost the same (-5.38), but now the economic one shifted a bit more to the left (was -6.75.)

Heh.

Well, I'm somewhere around where I was last time, (-6.62, -8.41), unless I've unconsciously changed my views since then.

I don't think I would use that term anymore, even in the sense of libertarian socialist. My views really can't be expressed on a Nolan Chart anymore because I question a number of its fundamental assumptions, such as its insistence on a currency-based society. The best label for my views now might be post-anarchist, although that term is too vague to really tell you anything and not quite vague enough to satisfy me.
