I have a question ["how to edit stats of guns and maps"]

Hi I'm new here and I was wondering how to edit stats of guns and maps in doom & doom 2, I've got down editing sprites, and I'm currently using xwe, but every time I try to edit a map by adding a wall it makes a blur thing that if I run into I go into an infinit path to no where, I also have no clue on how to make stuff like rocket explisions effects bigger. Thanks in advance.

By "stats of guns", I'm assuming you would probably want to change the behaviors of the weapons and some properties. DeHackEd was a program that hacked various hardcoded things in the original .exe. Nowadays, you can still use DeHackEd, and WhackEd2 (a more friendly version) to create .deh patches that can be loaded with source ports or used to patch the doom(2).exe. Be warned though, this is advanced stuff (although very limited) and you don't seem ready to jump into it all just yet.

With editing guns, the simplest way is as the previous author said, use a DeHackEd program or something that supports the deh files. I've never personally used DeHeacked In years since I mainly use EDGE ports. Those ports allow you to add up to 32 custom weapons and i dont think there is a limit on monsters. It also allows you to edit just about everything (up to apoint). As for the "blur thing" with the wall, you didnt set the right sector for the wall that you added, or you didnt set a texture or set one on the right side of the wall. I believe you are refering to what people here called "the hall of mirrors" error where the wall looks like a mirror and seems to copy and paste that portion of you screen into it. The best way to check for that error is to use Doombuilder in 3d preview mode. If there is something mission, you should get that part of the wall displayed as a red section with "!" in it.

That's for total weapons (though you can easily replace the originals) and the 1.29 betas double this limit.

^ true. You can also check the texture assginment section of that line and if it say 'Missing texture'anywhere fill it in with the texture you want for that line. Also a common one is having a Double-sided line that doesn't have a backside. I'm pretty sure that you can find many tuts on "mirror effect"
