SlatheDoomer Posted September 23, 2005 Hello, I remember this being asked in another post but I couldn't remember exactly how to phrase the search feature. I was just curious how would one go about making the floor one light level and the ceiling another? Thanks, SlatheDoomer 0 Share this post Link to post
Chainsaw Posted September 23, 2005 AFAIK, you cant. Light is done by sector. And the light level is constant for the entire height of the sector. 0 Share this post Link to post
myk Posted September 23, 2005 It's called shadowcasting in the Doomworld Editing Pages. 0 Share this post Link to post
Szymanski Posted September 23, 2005 As Myk pointed out you can use the shadowcasting trick, this works with the original engine. There are some examples here: http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/index.php?id=12539 If your using Boom or one of the newer ports you can achieve the effect using special linedefs (called 'set sector floor light' or similar). These are generally easier to implement. 0 Share this post Link to post
SlatheDoomer Posted September 23, 2005 I was able to reference the ceiling light by a line tag. Thanks for the replies though, SlatheDoomer 0 Share this post Link to post
Xanthier Posted September 23, 2005 can you pm me and tell me exactly how you accomplished this? 0 Share this post Link to post
EarthQuake Posted September 28, 2005 If using ZDoom: http://www.zdoom.org/wiki/index.php?title=Transfer_FloorLight http://www.zdoom.org/wiki/index.php?title=Transfer_CeilingLight Just make a dummy sector with the desired light level you want transferred, make one of the sides use this linedef special, and tag it to a sector where you want the light transferred to. I *think* these also work in Boom (and ports that support Boom). 0 Share this post Link to post
