DoomViewer 2.0 - neither a port, nor an editor...

Recommended Posts

Hello all of you.

DoomViewer was a project of mine that I haven't work with for
quite a long time, but lately I've decided to make some
improvements. So, DoomViewer 2.0 is out there ->
http://www.geocities.com/jimmyvalavanis/applications/doomviewer.html

What is this program?
3D previewer for the old classic games:
-Doom
-Doom2
-Heretic
-Hexen
-Strife
You can walk around the map and look around.

If you think that it could be useful to you you can try it. It's free.

I 'd be glad to hear any remarks, bug reports or ideas of improvement.
In addition I'd like to test it with some really BIG PWAD files,
where can I find some???

Hellcore, I think, was around 25 MB. I think Eternal Doom 3 is also somewhere around that size...

I might check the program out later but it doesn't sound very interesting.

One thing you should do is switch the colours of the '2D PREVIEW' and '3D PREVIEW' tabs.

I think it's quite interesting, but I cannot use it, while loading a map I get error message "Not enough storage is available while processing command" and then "DIB cannot be made". I agree that my HDD is overloaded too much, but I think over 1 gig free in C: should be sufficient.

As for system specs, I found this on homepage:

Windows operating system with DirectX 7.0.

and this:

For optimum performance Pentium III, AGPx4 graphics adapter, 256 MB RAM or more.

I've got AMD Sempron 2200+ (1.5Ghz), AGPx8 graphics adapter (128mb/128bit), 256 RAM, Win98 with Directx 9.0c, so it should be more than enough. Any ideas?

Neat programming project. Make it support zDoom format maps though :P

Can you give me a link to some zDoom PWADS?

The error message : "Not enough storage is available while processing command" usually happens when the operating system is increasing the pagefile size to allow allocation of more memory. Try to increase the
pagefile size on your system.
