-_DLD_- Posted October 4, 2005 Ah...that explains it. Demos. Soon I'll be getting those...then my computer's memory will probably be fried. I've got 2 gigs left on this hard drive, then I'll have to bring in the Nazi Flamethrower on some older files... 0 Share this post Link to post
Bank Posted October 5, 2005 3 kilobytes, with "Doom 3" and "The Ultimate Pong: Vice City" 0 Share this post Link to post

They're a file that contains the exact sequence of player input recorded, which is then played back in the game engine. I'm guessing the demos make up only a fraction of Grazza's collection size wise. 0 Share this post Link to post
Grazza Posted October 5, 2005 Yeah, most demo files are really small (esp. when zipped); the demo collections on my hard disk are only about 800 megs in total, and that includes some wads (included with demos and those from the sda/wad folder - that's 145 megs). Until recently I had more than 20,000 deleted lmps (failed attempts) in my recycle bin. I forget how much space they used up. 0 Share this post Link to post

LexiMax Posted October 5, 2005 I keep all my shit in d:\downloaded files\Doomdata It's currently 2.09 GB, though this includes the beta versions of the numerous projects that I've worked on. However, it's solid data, no programs or anything. 0 Share this post Link to post
Siggi Posted October 6, 2005 My Doom classic folder is 2.92 GB, 5801 Files and 375 Folders. That's pretty small considering I just did a hefty cleanup and DVD writing session like a day or so ago. 0 Share this post Link to post
pritch Posted October 7, 2005 c:\doom2 = 3.49GB c:\doom = 565MB (This is on my laptop, desktop ones back at home are bigger still afaik) 0 Share this post Link to post

fifafreak18 Posted October 8, 2005 all in all i prolly have about 1.9 gigs, i download wads and if i like them i keep 'em and if i don't like or they don't stand out i get rid of them. I got 3 folders consisting of doom stuff which i plan on putting in one folder soon enough but DooM3, a folder with a bunch of wads in it, and a folder of wads me and my friend are working on/finished...which is not very big. 0 Share this post Link to post
Gokuma Posted October 8, 2005 Currently 0 folders, 0 files. Actually I just backed up everything to CD and cleared almost everything off my hard drive so I have a pretty much clean slate to work with. I do currently have Hexen installed though. 0 Share this post Link to post
Lutrov71 Posted October 9, 2005 2.5 gigs, not including Doom3. 1 gig of that is just Doom wads. 0 Share this post Link to post

You need the easiest map-maker, doombuilder. It also is quite powerful. http://www.doombuilder.com/builder_info.php 0 Share this post Link to post

I'm currently working on a map (I need help with all the DeHacked crap I'd need to do to complete it), and it's turning out very very well so far in WadAuthor. It's not uber spectular or anything, but it's better than my older maps by leaps and bounds. I think it took me 6+ hours to build the first room...which should be a hint of it not being crappy. 0 Share this post Link to post
Nick Perrin Posted October 17, 2005 Seriously, use doombuilder instead. It has a 3d mode in which you can change the height of sectors, change textures, align textures, etc. It also has a better interface now, and better features. I'm saying this because if it took you that long in WadAuthor, that's a problem. 0 Share this post Link to post
-_DLD_- Posted October 18, 2005 Hmmm...I'll look into it. It took me so long because I had no idea what I was doing. I'm a lot better now. 0 Share this post Link to post
