885 greatest albums of all time

Recommended Posts

A public radio webcast that I listen to often is holding one of those "greatest albums of all time" events. I felt this was more worthy of mention than the usual top 100 lists because I've been more impressed by the turnout (rather than seeing the top 20 dominated by bands I feel are overrated). as far as im concerned, who cares what albums are #785 and lower, as if theres huge debate if album1 is worthy of being #468 more than album2. not like theres a lot of pristige. now, top 100 albums, thats sensible. 885? wtf.

OMG what's # 666 gonna be?

It was MARY CHAPIN CARPENTER – Stones In The Road. Go figure.

#777, on the other hand, was G. LOVE & SPECIAL SAUCE – Philadelphonic. Yeah, that's about right.

Top 885 albums? Why bother? If I had to pick the top 10 best albums ever they'd be:

1. ohGr - Welt
2. Legendary Pink Dots - Maria Dimension
3. Legendary Pink Dots - Crushed Velvet Apocalypse
4. A Perfect Circle - Mer de Noms
5. Failure - Fantastic Planet
6. Cake - Fashion Nugget
7. Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine
8. Pop Will Eat Itself - The Looks or the Lifestyle?
9. Pink Floyd - Piper at the Gates of Dawn
X. Radiohead - Hail to the Thief

Of course, that's just personal opinion based off of what I've heard.

People's obsession with compiling these ultimately useless lists will forever be a source of mystery to me.

All right, we're getting some Pink Floyd action in the 200's. Meddle isn't my number one favorite Floyd album of all time (that honor goes to Dark Side of the Moon) but it's nice to see them get some time in the limelight.
