Can I borrow your time machine, Coopers?

DooM isn't 19 years old. >_>;

Poo-- you'd think after this topic's been posted a hundred times, I'd have the right dates figured out!

Fun Fact: I'm 18.

In fact I don’t really know, I played Doom in 1994 at school, then stopped (no computer) and played it again since 2000.

Since sometime late last year (I voted since Doom 3 came out since it was the closest date).

I was bored, had $10 on me, noticed the Collector's Edition at Wal-Mart, and snagged it.

I've been Dooming since 1999, but I have loved and known the game since 1993/4.

Early 1994 on friend's 486/50.

Then Doom 2 was released and i had to get pc myself. :)

First started mapping sometime in 1995 i think when DEU was included on a PC Format magazine cd.

Since the winter of 1994 and the spring of 1995.
...Yeah, I know, I'm a slow adopter.
I was just so hooked on Wolfenstein and Blake Stone that I didn't feel a sudden need to move on.
But I did move on eventually anyways.

First played a limited amount of sharware doom and then doom 2 around 94-95 at a friends house. My family finaly got a computer/internet in '97 and I got ultimate doom and doom 2 for my own. I ended up finding age of empires and quake shortly after that and forgot all about doom until around 00-01 when I discovered legacy.

I remember a period where I was playing less DOOM and more Duke3D, Quake and stuff, and then I found Doom Legacy (I quite recall the green logo) and said "oh shit, you can look up and down and jump like in Duke3D!" I wonder what makes Legacy so popular; it shows up way before any other engines on a search (after DOOM 3/id Software/DOOM imdb on a Google search for "doom".)

Those who do not learn from the past are DOOMed to repeat it.

Started teaching myself how to map in 1998 - 1999.
It took me almost two years (because of school and real life crap) before I began coming up with something that looked decent enough to be presented to the public.

I tried mapping (before I knew how to make doors) when I was 9 or something. Then I stopped...and I started again in early 2004. Made some maps, sucked ass.

Started again. Maps are apparently not wows.
