This is Napalm a Vietnam war TC,

Features-

- Military Weapons like M16s & M60s to kill the enemy
- Never seen before friendly US Marine AI
- Call up airstrikes when you want to from radio's
- loads of NVA's to waste
- New textures, Graphics, levels and sounds
- Ambient sounds and music help to create the scene
- 32 bit Hi-Res textures

So whats different about 2.1 to 2.0 well..

1. friendly Ai now works as it should,
2. nearly all the textures have been upgraded to 32 bit
3. Most of the maps are new, unseen
4. Weapons range system has been added

And general bug fixs and things,

New pictures

This will be the version that i will release, i would like to make a long game but the chances of that
are slim but i should have atleast 10 missions. I will be releasing a demo soon that will feature a couple of maps.

Looking very sweet man!

They've gottta be some of the best-done jungles I've ever seen in a Doom source port.

Are the graphics for this all new stuff, or will there be a bit of recycling from the Duke Nukem TC (and subsequent Stand-alone game)? It's just that I've seen those Duke sprites many, many times.

NAM (otherwise known as NAPALM) could be considered something of an officially licensed, standalone Duke TC. If you look in the GRP files, you will find a lot of Duke3D's resources (including Duke talk stuff, a few sprites and textures, etc). Also, if you copy the GRP and CON files, you can also run it in JFDuke3D flawlessly.

It was a TC before it was a stand alone game. I'd downloaded it as a TC called "Platoon" IIRC. It was by tnt team (again IIRC) - not our own Team TNT BTW. I think they now do "Unreal" stuff as "Reactor4". Anyway, quite some time later, a friend of mine bought a game called "Nam" and we were disappointed to find that it was basically the same as the TC I'd DL'd a year or more earlier. :/

There was also "WWII GI" which often gets mentioned with Nam/Platoon but I don't actually know if they are related in any way.

WW2GI is actually a better game overall - it has all new content, high res sprites and such, and fewer actual Duke resources - but it can still be run through JFDuke3D.

The Marines and the nva sprites are from Nam, and wont be replaced same with the weapons and scenery, the gfx (explosions, fire and smoke) will be replaced with 32bit ones (which i have already).

The whole reason i started this project back in 1999 was that i couldnt find a copy of Nam anywhere in Britian, so i decided to make my own, a year or 2 later i found were i could buy them (ww2gi aswell) so i did, i was abit disapointed with NAM but such is life, WW2gi was a different game completly more refined and next to none of the familar duke 3d resources, not bad at all..

I didnt now about JFDuke 3d, sounds cool.

Interesting. Is it available anywhere (legally of course). I haven't been able to find anything other than background info on it.

I'm intrested into how the radios work. Will they be mapped objects that can be used a la the platoon TC or will the radio be weapon item or will it be something else?

Done by rts scripts, you just go over to the radioman and using the menu system you select the coodinates, then artillary shells spawn..

I can do miscellaneous radio messages and maybe some NPC stuff. People tell me I sound older than I am, so there's a mark in my favor.
