chungy Posted December 4, 2005 I've tried a few ports already, they all do the sound effects just fine, but not the background music. Is there some technical reason it's not done, or is my computer just an idiot one? >_> 0 Share this post Link to post
andrewj Posted December 4, 2005 The technical reason is that Linux does not have a standard way of playing MIDI music, in Windows and MacOSX it is part of the operating system. Some ports (e.g. Chocolate Doom) use SDL_mixer, which requires you to download the instrument patches and install them. But it isn't always obvious exactly what you're supposed to do to make it work. 0 Share this post Link to post
ducon Posted December 5, 2005 Use timidity and its sound fonts (freepats). It will work instantly with prboom, but please install the packages from your distribution. 0 Share this post Link to post
