Mancubus II Posted December 10, 2005 Happy birthday Doom! That's right, today marks the 12th anniversary of the original shareware release of Doom for the PC. While I can't say we've got anything in particular planned (edit: yes we do, see below), I suggest taking a bit of time today to navigate the site and especially the idgames archive to find some great wads to play. While you're at it, check out the Doom Advent Calendar for a new wad to play every day of the month! Edit by Cyb - I don't know what Manc was thinking, forgetting the cake. It'll never happen again, we swear! More important edit by Bloodshedder - I am pleased to announce that The 12th Annual Cacowards site has opened. Go take a look-see at Scuba Steve's (and our) favorite picks for the best WADs of 2005! 0 Share this post Link to post
Enjay Posted December 10, 2005 Damn, I've been playing this game for longer than either of my kids have been alive - my daughter is a couple of weeks younger than Doom. Oh well, I suppose next year Doom will be a teenager. It'll probably start smoking, throw parties when I'm not home, hang around bus shelters and intimidate pensioners. :) 0 Share this post Link to post

Shuck Posted December 10, 2005 Crazyness! I found myself playing Doom longer than usual this morning, I knew something was up! Happy birthday Doom! I was also looking for good speedruns to watch, do I remember a Doom 2 speedrun where the player took no damage, or am I just stupid? 0 Share this post Link to post

Afterglow Posted December 11, 2005 Which I am glad to say [Jägermörder 2] is, a fantastic map capable of running on all ports Boom compatible. It actually only runs in ZDoom. You should've delayed the Caco Awards until after New Year's so Crucified Dreams could win the Mordeth award instead. But there's always 2006... 0 Share this post Link to post
