SoldierOfFortune Posted December 23, 2005 I'm making a WAD (duh) and some of my areas are...well...lacking; they're plain and don't have enough to make them interesting. So if anyone has any ideas as to how I can improve these rooms, I'd appreciate it. Keep in mind that the ammunition and monsters come later. http://img474.imageshack.us/img474/6421/doom00009rz.jpg I just don't think there's enough stuff for a room this size. http://img349.imageshack.us/img349/2042/doom00015sx.jpg This garden area lacks decoration; there's only so much I can do with 3 different kinds of plant scenery. 0 Share this post Link to post
SyntherAugustus Posted December 23, 2005 try playing the later levels (25-30) of scythe 2 if you want garden ideas. http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/index.php?id=13600 0 Share this post Link to post
DooMer87 Posted December 23, 2005 well, big, huge rooms are boring. If you shrink it down, add 3 doors that go to completely different places, maybe some enemies. 0 Share this post Link to post

Ezxariarch Posted December 30, 2005 You should make sectors with a greater difference in floor and cieling height. From what i've seen in your two screenshots, the rooms you show all have about the same, 128 height difference. Adding stairs, raised floors, and other details hels to make the map look less flat. Other than that, It looks pretty good so far. More screenshots would help though. The first screenshot looks kinda like Monster Condo from doom2. ^_^ 0 Share this post Link to post

Shooters these days are all cramped and shit, but Doom is great at big spaces. Think BIG! 0 Share this post Link to post
