Koko Ricky Posted January 19, 2006 My friend just installed Doom 2 and is using Gzdoom to run it in Windows. Even after using the setup program, he complains that there's no sound. What's going on? EDIT: He is using Windows 2000 and has Sound Blaster Live. 0 Share this post Link to post
wildweasel Posted January 19, 2006 Well, for starters, GZDoom has no setup program, and it does not read the sound settings generated by Doom 2's setup.exe program. Aside from that, I don't have any clue what the issue would be without further information. 0 Share this post Link to post
Nautilus Posted January 19, 2006 Perhaps the sound device might be undergoing problems pertaining the driver. 0 Share this post Link to post
DaniJ Posted January 19, 2006 I'll bet you he isn't even using GZDoom and is still running Doom2.exe ;) 0 Share this post Link to post

By the info you gave DaniJ is probably right; your friend ran the game's Setup app, which gives you the option to launch the game... and it launches it using Doom2, not GZDoom, of course, and naturally sound won't work on Windows 2000 then. Did your friend double-click gzdoom.exe? 0 Share this post Link to post
