Multiplayer with a router

Anyway to acheive this? Ever since I got a DSL router, any kind of multiplayer has a full one second lag, making gameplay impossible. I never had this on my pathetic 56k, which was loads faster.

Not sure, but I've had issues with sharing connections, and the best solution was simply connecting the gaming computer directly each time I needed to play a game.

What does that mean?

It means connect your DSL modem directly to your computer instead of the router.

That is, if you don't have one of those modems that has a router built in.

What multiplayer are we talking about? Classic DOOM? Source port? LAN or Internet?
