Installation doubletrouble

I am experiencing problems installing my second Doom 3 copy. The error message tells me to uninstall existing versions from Control panel/Add remove programs. It's not there, because I uninstalled it many months ago. I might've simply deleted the directories. Any tips on where to find some hidden log files or something?

if you are using windows, delete it from the registry.
I wouldn't doubt that some games register a system dll just to protect itself from illegal copies....

You could always copy someone else's Doom3 folder to where you installed it on your hard drive, then uninstall it.(I assume)
