Xenaero Posted April 2, 2006 So I make a box, with win98se as the OS, so I can play ancient games dosbox doesnt fully support...But im having problem on some of them, like for instance, chuck yeager's air combat locks up when I get to the main menu, right when he is supposed to say something, which makes me suspect a sound issue. Some other games complain about a mouse problem. Im wondering if there's a way to make a instant boot to dos floppy or something, although I cant see how that'd work. Maybe VDMSound...? 0 Share this post Link to post
myk Posted April 2, 2006 You can use a recovery floppy to boot to DOS, though I'd suggest modifying it so that it loads what you need (mainly sound and mouse support) plus maybe making it load files off the HDD. The recovery disk comes with a CD-ROM driver too. 0 Share this post Link to post

kc32 Posted April 3, 2006 Just out of curiosity, how much did that set you back when you bought it? 0 Share this post Link to post
Bloodshedder Posted April 3, 2006 VDMSound doesn't support Windows 98. A lockup is often caused by an IRQ or DMA issue on your sound card. Make sure your SET BLASTER environment variable is correct. 0 Share this post Link to post
wildweasel Posted April 3, 2006 If all else fails, you can always create a DOS boot disk through Windows' Format menu. Just right-click on the disk, select Format, and make sure that it's set to copy system files. Regarding Chuck Yeager's Air Combat, it could very well be that your sound card is too new. 0 Share this post Link to post
