Lost Soul

Recommended Posts

This one's finished. Or at least I decided to call it quits. I recently touched it up with some sculpey and I'll be painting it this week. I'm not crazy about it. Now that I have a book on facial reconstruction I can see a ton of anatomical mistakes, not that you have to be a doctor to tell there's something odd about this skull aside from the horns.LOL

I'll post some more pics once it's painted.

I might be in the minority, but I actually like the lost soul from Doom 3 better than the original, especially better than the forgotten.

If there's one creature that looks way better in D3 then in the original it's the lost soul. Do you think the forgotten does the old school lost soul justice?

I actually liked the Alpha Lost Souls the best personally, although the Forgotten were pretty cool

Alpha lost souls? Gotta screen shot of one of these? Don't recall them, and about the forgotten compared to the orignals, no justice. Would've been better if they had flaming eyes or something.

Nice, I like it. And baronofhell, he means the original Doom lost souls, they were completely white and shot purple stuff...

nice. as far as the anatomical mistakes go, ya gotta think that it's not really a human skull. it may resemble one, but it's not. that right there give you leeway in your design. you don't have to make a perfect human skull with horn that is on fire, just a lost soul.

here's what I've got done. I will touch it up some more. I'm not sure how the lighting looks, but I painted the fire lighting up the skull a bit. there's also a base that will go with it.

I think I'll make it look a bit more brownish. And write up yet another sad attempt to explain a doom monster.LOL!

VERY nice, Im blown away by the way you painted the fire, and made the areas around it yellow to show it giving off light onto those parts of the skull

If your thinking about touching it up some more, maybe painting some fine cracks in the skull?

Excellent work, Shapeless, particularly on the paint job on the flames--it really brings it to life. The only nitpick I have is the flames seem to become kind of flat towards the back of the skull (I guess I like to see them trailing backwards somewhat), although it's hard to say for sure because you don't have a photo showing the back of the figure.

I agree with VileSlay on the anatomical correctness issue--it's a demonic skull, it doesn't have to be perfect. In fact, a little embellishment in design/bone structure can really add to the presentation.

thanks for the input. the back is less detailed. but I'll post more angles when I touch it up some more.
