Hi first post...anyways I've been working on my first sp megawad when i haven't been working on the Skulltag community coop. So far i have about four maps done for this mega-wad and i think its turning out pretty good considering that i haven't been mapping for very long. Here are some screens of the first four levels.

Some of the textures are from a resource wad given to me for the STCC
if your wondering where they came from. The maps will be short to medium in size, this is due to the fact that if i try to make huge maps i will lose interest in the entire megawad.


There is no story for the wad yet. So i guess ill make one now.
You are a lone marine and you have to flip alot of switches and kill some monsters; the end.

EDIT: Also, this is made for skulltag but it should be compatible with many other ports.

It looks good. You've done a good job so far maintaining a consistent theme in textures for your maps, with nothing that severely clashes or detracts from the atmosphere. However, perhaps you could take better screenshots? (Full-screen mode, notarget on)

Well, it shows improvement over the uh.. last wad of yours I played. You just need to work on your texturing some more.

Looks pretty good considering you haven't been mapping for long.
Less 90 degree angles and some creative use of textures should improve your maps.

Thanks, i have made less 90 degree angles in map05 and onward, i don't want to edit maps 01-04 that much because if i start doing that then this project will never be finished.

I am releasing maps01-05 as a demo for the wad.
And i have screens from map05.

Looks neat. I was worried from that first batch of screens that your lighting didn't change much, but it seems to have improved in the last few shots. You may still want to work on it a little, though.

Cool that you noticed. I take a lot of inspiration from tnt.wad, though its just inspiration, nothing from the maps is in my wad.
Im not surpried that it shows through my maps.

I'm sure you will like it as much as I do. The game play is not meant to be hard, I'm focusing on the fun factor, there is plenty of health and ammo and every map can be played by itself without much trouble with the difficulty of monsters. What I'm trying to do is keep from having the level get harder and harder as you play through it and focus more on overall difficulty spread out throughout the maps.

I see alot of alignment probs in screen 2, but it looks fairly decent. Keep up the work.

They're good, but they could be better. Most of those screenshots are extremely bright. You might want some darker areas. Also, some of those textures look awful for regular wall texturing, such as the walls in the screenshot DOOM079.

That spot has been edited and the maps are darker now.
Those changes were made a while ago actually, a day after the demo was released. The maps are getting better as I learn so expect for it to get better as you go along.

Looks better you might want to raise/lower the ceiling 8 units it will give an better look to your bricks.

Ok good news, Im going to shorten the wad size to only 10 maps for a few reasons.

1.im lazy
2.im ready to be done with this wad
3.im running out of ideas
4.i am wanting to make some dm maps

So this means you dont have to play through as much garbage and 90 degree angles.
