SLADE v1.13

Slade still has too many defects and mistakes and can't be used. Development of Slade reminds development of ZDoomGL and I am afraid it will be never finished too :(

For example sometimes I receive casual blinking of light in 3D mode
Also it is slowed down after texture choice in 3D mode
Also I have three crashes after two minutes of use

1) ATI card? Try turning off the fog and see if that fixes it.
2) I've never noticed this so theres not a whole lot I can do.
3) More details would be nice, like what you were doing when it crashed.

It was before I changed over to wxwidgets. It should still be compilable in linux though, I just need someone to create a makefile that works correctly (I don't have much experience with linux so I can't really).

1) Yes, but you should remove or fix all things which do not work with ATI cards.
2) After an irritating delay the direction of a sight also changes. It is awful.
3) First time I got crash after a choice of blank ("_") texture for floor. Second time - after clicking on "[] Hide IWAD textures". Third - at the first attempt to enter into 3D mode on Doom2\MAP01 (the second attempt was successful)

1) I'm not removing the fog feature, it's easy enough to turn off. It's not my fault ATI have terrible opengl drivers.

2) Hmm, sounds like something screwing up with the mouse cursor. I'll lock the view while the texture window is open or something, might help.
Edit: Well looks like I can't do that. Did this happen with earlier versions?

3) Ok, the first 2 I'm looking into, the third is something I get rarely too, just haven't been able to catch it with the debugger yet :/
Edit: Actually, you shouldn't be able to select "-" for a floor texture, unless you type it manually. Either way it doesn't crash for me. The other crash (hide iwad textures) is fixed now though.

Looks like I'll be releasing a patch sometime soon to fix some crashes.

How can I remove (set to None) some key-bindings from GUI?
How can I save Doom Builder color scheme from GUI?
How about "Show vertices in Lines\Sector mode"?
How about limitation of view distance? (slade works slowly at big levels)
How about Undo\Redo in 3D mode?
Can I assign more than one shortcut to action?

edit_createsector (binding to X) - what is it?

I should note, Slade opens maps more quickly than DB

I've been meaning to try this out a bit, I like how you can use your Hi-Res textures, plus you can see slopes in the editor!

1) You can't from the gui currently, just change the binding to "" in slade.cfg
2) Something I've been meaning to finish :P Just change the line col_config "Default" to col_config "Doom Builder" in slade.cfg
3) Could be easily done, don't see how its useful though.
4) & 5) Will probably have to wait for the next major version
6) At the moment you have to duplicate input entries in slade.cfg, like:
key "view_zoomin" "MWheel Up" 0
key "view_zoomin" "+" 0
7) It attempts to turn the area around the pointer into a closed sector (doesn't work in all situations though)

Wow, cool!
But really it works not always :(

Also Slade has problems with colors. It is impossible to distinguish a selected line from assigned sector if this line is on it sector. See DoomBuilder

Sometime soon, I'd like to start using Slade. Hopefully I'll do it this summer. =P
