DumbSCRIPTguy Posted May 24, 2006 Im looking for programs that record audio not using a microphone, but by recording from the file you are playing etc. if you are watching a movie, it will record the sound effects played etc. 0 Share this post Link to post
Bloodshedder Posted May 24, 2006 This can be done with any regular audio recording program if you select the proper recording source in Windows volume control. 0 Share this post Link to post
AndrewB Posted May 24, 2006 Goldwave is the easiest program to use to record audio. To record from something other than microphone, do the following: - Go to the volume control - Go Options -> Properties - Select Recording, then OK - Select the source you want 0 Share this post Link to post
leileilol Posted May 24, 2006 Audacity can do it and it's not shareware, which is why it pwns What you need is a sound card that has more than one sound buffer, i.e. NOT Sound Blaster 16s, just Lives and up from there. 0 Share this post Link to post
Remilia Scarlet Posted May 24, 2006 Or if you want a hacked-up way of doing it, or only have an older sound card, get a mini-to-mini cable (1/8" mini connectors on both sides). Then connect one end to the line out, one to the line in. Record as normal, then. I remember having to do this once before. 0 Share this post Link to post

I would not recommend this for any project that requires the slightest hint of audio quality. It's akin to taping a favorite show by putting a camcorder in front of your TV set. BTW I did it too, about 10 years ago, before sound cards had those extra buffers. kristus said:Windows soundrecorder can do that. That'd better be a joke. 0 Share this post Link to post
Piezo Posted May 24, 2006 Like Bloodshedder just said, set the recording device to stereo mix or mono mix instead of microphone under the volume control panel. 0 Share this post Link to post
