They secretly cry themselves to sleep and pray to an imaginary god to please take these "urges" from them. Their social lives are plagued with fear of all members of the same sex because of their underlying attraction to them, and how they make them feel, and as a result are withdrawn, lonely and sad.

Hatred isn't a strong stance. Homophobes and mysoginists who "stand behind their words" stand behind their fear and resentment; it's a mechanism where harm or humiliation must be applied onto gays or women to "prove" manhood, just like fascists must prove they are strong by ganging up against a demonized social stereotype. Hartred is to the individual what bigotry is to society.

I presume you're talking about hentai. I would argue that since the main market for porn is men, then the relevant scenes imply that all men want women to have penises.

Besides, Freud doesn't address issues of sailor suit fetishes or movies with lots of yelling in them so I don't think Japan really confirms his theories.

What? Freud's theories are far from being dogmatic positivism. On the contrary, they are illustrative of psychological elements previously hardly touched except incidentally in heterogenic sources (speard out through literary, religious and philosophical works), particularly since before the late 19th or the 20th centuries the pyche was considered almost mainly from a conscientious perspective, far from the complexity gained by modern thought.

As usual, someone mentions Freud some bloke has to come nagging with some reactionary snide comment. Ironically in this case it seems the particular Freudian quote had hit the nail of this reactionary element itself on the head, at least in respect to psychological understanding.

Only a clueless person tries to read Freud (or any decent modern theorist, for that matter) as some sort of bible to be repeated without context or otherwise dismissed with some shallow and predictable gibe.
