baronofhell Posted June 21, 2006 Demons are in a constant state of pain and anguish. They kill for temporary moments of extacy. But yeah I don't think demons breed like us humans. 0 Share this post Link to post
BlitZ Posted June 21, 2006 From wikipedia concerning Imp (in general) gender - "They are usually described as lively and having small stature. They are usually, but not invariably, assigned male gender." Also from wikipedia (doom enemy list)- "Lost Souls are consider male, while Pain Elementals are considered female." 0 Share this post Link to post
Da Spadger Posted June 21, 2006 What speaks for that there's only two genders among demons? :P 0 Share this post Link to post
Darkfyre Posted June 22, 2006 BlitZ said:They are usually...assigned male gender." "Pain Elementals are considered female." That's because other languages need a 'sex' to describe it. Like french's la and le... it doesn't mean it's male or female, but that the word itself is masculine or feminine so it can be put into proper context in languages that need a 'sex' for every bloody word. 0 Share this post Link to post
ellmo Posted June 22, 2006 I though I saw every kind of monster/weapon thread one can Imagine. I was so naive. Are you going to debate on shotgun's gender next? 0 Share this post Link to post

sidarmas Posted June 22, 2006 Darkfyre said:Interesting... Hence, thats why they're the toughest weapons around. But the question still stands. Is the Unmaker Female? 0 Share this post Link to post

Shadow Dweller Posted June 29, 2006 when you think of it, a "demon" is an entity that lurks within the shadows of ones' mind, normally a secret or dark past, and therefore is devoid of gender, 'tis just a thought. a memory. in the case of the game, i refer to the monsters by their given name or "it". 0 Share this post Link to post

myk Posted July 7, 2006 Kennychan said: What about the French name of Revanent, Mancubus? THe translator can't translate The word Revenant is French, and Mancubus would probably not change (since it's latin based). I guess Cacodemon would be Cacodemón. 0 Share this post Link to post
Darkfyre Posted July 8, 2006 Just throw some accents on it and pronounce it like you have a hairball in your throat. Voila! Translated to French :p 0 Share this post Link to post
sidarmas Posted July 18, 2006 Darkfyre said:Just throw some accents on it and pronounce it like you have a hairball in your throught. Voila! Translated to French :p Nope.. Its because they're already translated. The words Revenant and Mancubus have latin origins, along with a bit of french pronounciations, therefore, it's already translated. 0 Share this post Link to post

sundar Posted July 23, 2006 I speak Tamil(an Indian language) and in my language and a few other South Indian languages "Amma" means mom, and interestingly "Amma" is what the Mancubus says when attacking. When I was a kid, I had the trial version of Doom. I used to play E1 everytime using iddqd and idspispopd, especially E1M4 and I liked watching monsters fight each other. At that time, I used to think of the Pinkies and Imps as the dads and moms of the zombies because they always used to beat the crap outta them with such an ease and the death cries of zombies sounded like babies. It seemed to me like they were just keeping their children under control. 0 Share this post Link to post
