Richo Rosai Posted June 23, 2006 Obviously I failed with Jehovah Gyra, and I'm looking to Doom references for my new band's name. So far I thought of: Demon(s) Can't Step (The) Former Human(s) Pistol and Fifty Hell by Rappel But I'm sure there are plenty of awesome ones that I'm not thinking of. Any suggestions? 0 Share this post Link to post
exp(x) Posted June 23, 2006 Icon of Sin might be good depending on what type of music you're doing. 0 Share this post Link to post

Bucket Posted June 23, 2006 I'd figured "Refresh Daemon" was an obvious choice. 0 Share this post Link to post
CODOR Posted June 23, 2006 Depending on the type of music: BFG9000 Wallrunner Degreelessness Delta-Q-Delta Hall Of Mirrors Tag 666 Slime Trail If Smashing Pumpkins hadn't already been taken: SPISPOPD And if Dave Barry were here I'm sure he'd agree that Phobos Anomaly would make a great name for a band... 0 Share this post Link to post

A Medusa error happens in the original engine when you put a texture with more than one patch on a two sided line. When you look at it up close, the game comes to an almost complete stop until you look away again. 0 Share this post Link to post

Richo Rosai Posted June 23, 2006 Wow, thanks for all the responses! I've gotta go teach some little kids English to cover my studio fees (a certain game company in Osaka pays shit), but I'll look at them in more detail later. One thing I can say is that I did think of a lot of others myself, but: I didn't want to something that would box me in later (like, "Icon of Sin" is awesome but might make people assume some kind of one-note dark metal) And I didn't want something that was so Doom-specific and well-known that it was obvious, immediately nerdy and would lead to claims of unoriginality (like "Thy Flesh Consumed", for example). 0 Share this post Link to post
deathbringer Posted June 25, 2006 Some slightly more obscure (mostly referencing the manual) Doom references: Earth's Toughest Floating above Hell itself Challenging Electronics DaButcher The Perfect Enemy Unwelcome Guests Purgatory Pedestrians Eric Dylan & The Massacre Master Levels 0 Share this post Link to post

insertwackynamehere Posted June 25, 2006 not only is that extremely wrong but its Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold not Eric Dylan 0 Share this post Link to post
deathbringer Posted June 25, 2006 But that would make an extremely long band name, and i didnt come up with that one, somebody suggested it at a metal gig (of 25 people, including band members, sound man and the bar staff) last night 0 Share this post Link to post

Richo Rosai Posted June 26, 2006 Perfect Hatred would be awesome if it didn't sound all Nine Inch Nails-ish... Right now I'm thinking "Pistol and Fifty" and "Medusa Error" look good, but they don't click quite hard enough... Of course if I give up on the Doom references and there I have a ton of others, the best of which are: Pig in the Ground Basically Fake Mindless Button Mashing Japanese Bending Machines Tunnel of Sky Defloweration Project (alt, Refloweration Project) Pauxeurs (pronounced 'posers') PITA(People for the Ingestion of Tasty Animals) But I still think I can do better. And then there's the whole issue of wanting it to be easy fo Japanese people to pronounce, heh! 0 Share this post Link to post
