Seriously, what good has this religion ever done anyone? As far as I can see (and thats pretty much as far as anyone in the world can see or will ever be able to see) the Christian religion has resulted in nothing but suffering, war and the destruction of entire cultures and for what!? A load of mystical mumbo-jumbo and an overlong fanfic about some guy who died 2000 years ago after having spent his life wandering around in the desert with a group of other men, preaching pacifistic hippy-crap to anybody who could be arsed to show up and most definitely _not_ performing any miracles. Is this guy really worth basing a fucking 2000 year old cult about? Is he worth going to church on sunday and sitting about getting bored while the preacher gives a meaningless sermon about morality, despite the fact that he's probably abusing the choirboys nightly. Actually jesus probably was a better than average guy and his philolosphy on life may well work for some people, but he isn't going to solve your problems and he isn't going to be fucking waiting for you when you die!

2. "The Bible" literally means "The Book", and that's all it is, just a book. Good piece of literature though. The problem is people take it literally, and how in God's name (if there is just one God) do we know that it wasn't written by 2 guys in their underwear? IT'S JUST A METAPHOR!

3. Have you noticed that a vast majority of the narrow-minded people in this world are Catholic? Didn't Jesus, if he existed, say at the sermon on the mount, "Do not judge others, or you yourself will be judged,"? Of course, the catholics are so conservative-minded hypocrites, and they think that any other religion is wrong or "Satanic" (which is a really retarded concept, IMO).


I myself am Pagan, and one of my philosophies is that people are allowed to believe what they want. One doesn't necessarily have to believe anything he or she hears at first, but it doesn't hurt to listen.

And about this "good vs. evil" stuff, I don't see it as good and evil. I see it as positive and negative. Both must exist in order for a balance in this universe. And anybody that says he or she is free of "sin" and "evil" is a downright liar. The balance is not just limited to nature.

What I hate the most is the mindset that humans are superior to animals. Yes, humans may be the dominant species on this planet, but we're still scientifically ANIMALS!!! Humans are not a seperate kingdom of life ladies and gentlemen! I also believe in evilution. Come on pepople! How do explain dinosaur bones and whatnot?

Ill just list the basics:

1. I blame religeon (especialy Christianity) to be the number one sorce of evil in this world. America is number two.

2. Christianity does not improve people's morals, in fact it actually preaches immoral actions such as prejudice, male dominance, and mass murder.

3. One does not need a religeon to improve thier lives. Take me for example. I am an atheist. This is my philosophy.
Good = Helping your fellow human being, not making their lives more miserable than they are now, protecting the environment (it will come to bite us all in the ass one day).
Bad = Killing or harming others. Being wasteful, arrogant, or greedy.

4. Christianity is NOT the one true religeon. Thats exactly what all other religeons say. It's just by chance that we are all (supposed to be) worshipping Yaweh, the Hebrew god, and not another god such as Zeus.

5. The main reason behing monotheism is to establish among the people the idea that following one being is a good thing. This has led to such things as monarchies, feudalism, and facism. There is no such thing as unquestionalble authority.

All religeons are like this. That is the secondary purpose of religeon.

First it was to answer questions like 'Why are we here?', or 'Why does shit likt this happen?'. Then, as leaders arose, they found out how easily people could led to believe this was true, and they shaped the religeons to get the people to think like them.

Well, basicaly all religeons and sects were created by certain people so they can dominate others (or because they took too much acid). Lets take a look:

The Mormon church, created by (forget his name, something Brown)...its primary purpose was to esablish the white male as dominant to all others, according to its founder. With it, he could convince others that multiple wives are okay, and whites did'nt have to live alongside 'the negro'.

The Lutheran church, created by Martin Luther...it was founded to get rid of all the evil that the Catholic church preached, and center the religeon more on the teachings of Jesus. This was probably a good thing.

The Judean Faith, created by the Hebrew Kings...established so that the people would think that following one being is a good thing. I talked more about this previously.

The Greek Pantheon, created by the Greeks...showed that there were flaws in all things, and showed how to make up for and overcome those flaws. Probably my favortite religeon.

About the Nazis and the Holocaust: the Nazis weren't acting in the name of the Christianity, nor were they twisting it. They were opposing religion in general, and based their action on the so-called "science of races" or whatever you call it in English.

There is quite a difference between religion and faith. I believe in God, but I'm not a religious person, never were, probably never will be. My belief in God is basically "Live the way you want, but don't harm others."

Christianity helps many people feel safe and accompanied. It lets them think that there's something higher than this dumpy earth we live on. It gives them a moral code that-when not misinterpreted-can make them better people.

I do not believe in god, but I am not against religion. I am against the misuse of religion.

Religous wars and the slaughtering/enslaving/predjudice against other races fueled by religion is an excellent misuse of it. Think of it in terms of the recent terrorist attacks. If Osama and his Moslem terrorists were really confident that we are wrong in how we worship, wrong in how we treat women, and that we are sure to burn in Islamic Hell, why did they attack us in the first place? If they were 100% secure in these beliefs then they would leave us alone and let us rot in hell.

Now, on the subject of "stupidity" in religion...

All you atheists talking about how "religion makes no sense" have probably tried to argue your point with a believer. Since all arguments must be logic-based, and religion is faith-based, it is stupid on your part to think of them as any less intelligent.

As things stand right now, we are on earth, so instead of fighting over whose religion is right, let's just worry about what is obviously real and let whatever deity might exist worry about punsishment and rewards.

I have noticed that a lot of you have attacked religions as itself... which I don't really understand. If you think about it, very very few religions are inherently harmful to other people... but in that same light socialism isn't bad either. The thing is humans are not advanced enough yet to handle either of these things responsibly... which seems almost like a joke when the natural progression of man is away from religion. Anyway, it makes much more sense to feel hatred towards religious persons instead of their religions. Come to think of it, being a religious person almost completely contradicts the point of the religion in the first point.

There are definitely three effects of religion that you have to consider:

1. In ALL religions, moral, what's right and what's wrong etc is important. In fact, MOST religions are basically about right and wrong and humans should act and behave and get along. So far so good.

2. People interpret religion in different ways and some people misunderstand. For example: many people refer to the Old Testament when they say there is a motivation in the christian religion that you there should be death penalty. But that is wrong. A point of the bible is that in the New Testament, there are corrections to the Old Testament. Jesus says that you should forgive anyone (etc).

3. People with different religions don't get along, because they have all learnt that their own religion is the only true one.


I'm an atheist. Religion was created by humans to explain things in the nature, that science of their time could not. Not even today can science explain everything, so there is still a need for religion for the people who do not wish to see things the scientific way.

I think it's fair to say that the holocaust did happen, but it's also fair to ask how much the numbers were exaggerated(sp?)...After all, the zionists left the orthodox jews to die in the concentration camps while they were setting aside a holy land...which is why I have absolute contempt for zionist jews...and, as someone asked, what good have the christians done...well, they haven't done worse than the Jews. Just read the history in the bible...the annihilation of the 12 tribes (more or less), sodom and gamora(sp?)(well, they were a bunch of fags...but still), they were the ones that fuckin' INVENTED ethnic cleansing, not the Germans, not the Persians (a Persian general had two million jews slaughtered), and certainly not the fuckin' Serbians. And then the christians followed suit, not because they were christian, but because the religion was founded on the backbone of the Roman Empire. The Christians weren't bad people until they were assimilated by the Romans. Fuckin' Constantine...Gotta hate those damn faggot Romans. I myself have my own personal religion...and there ain't no god, heaven or hell in it.
