XDelusion Posted July 31, 2006 I am trying to set up a DOSbox and was going to go with FreeDOS but was unable to get my CD-ROM to function as it should, so I just installed 98lite. Now the problem I am having is that I forget how to keep 98 from loading. I am aware that I can press F8 during boot time to manually select to go straight to DOS mode, but there is another way to make it always boot straight into DOS rather than Windows. Does anyone remember how this is done? Or If anyone knows how to set up a CD-ROM in FreeDOS I'd much rather go that route as FreeDOS is much more like CLI or Linux which I prefer. 0 Share this post Link to post

Remove attributes (hidden, system and read only) from msdos.sys, then edit it: BootGUI=1 <- change to 0 0 Share this post Link to post
Lobo Posted July 31, 2006 * Open the file C:\MSDOS.SYS with a text editor, like notepad. * You'll probably have to remove the Read-only, System, and Hidden attributes of the file before editing it. * Find the line that reads BootGUI=1, and change it to BootGUI=0. * Save the file and reboot your computer. Type Win if you need to start Windows. 0 Share this post Link to post
