This seems to happen a lot in the computer world. For instance, When EA took over Bullfrog, they fired Peter Molyneux (I think), but he continued to work on Dungeon Keeper without pay until it was done. That's why Dungeon Keeper was Bullfrogs last good game instead of it's first bad one. :P
