SlatheDoomer Posted August 11, 2006 Here are three screenshots from my upcoming doom wad codenamed Babel. The actual title will probably change when I finish the wad itself. http://img235.imageshack.us/img235/2961/doom0082nb4.png http://img77.imageshack.us/img77/3438/doom0083yr4.png http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/2390/doom0085vn9.png *NEW* http://img67.imageshack.us/img67/3209/doom0086pl7.png *NEW* http://img48.imageshack.us/img48/2563/doom0087rv0.png *NEW* http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/2015/doom0088bm5.png *NEW* http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/3394/babelgrid02iu2.png Any feedback is welcomed. -SlatheDoomer 0 Share this post Link to post
Vegeta Posted August 11, 2006 Looks very nice. One can't judge much about screenshots but seems to be a very fun map. And the name is good, fit perfectly with the vanilla atmosphere. 0 Share this post Link to post
esselfortium Posted August 12, 2006 I like the name, personally. I wouldn't mind if you kept it the same, but that's up to you. The screenshots look very nice. Hopefully it plays as good as it looks. :) 0 Share this post Link to post
Craigs Posted August 12, 2006 Looks pretty good, my only complaint was the torch light in the screenshot, http://img235.imageshack.us/img235/2961/doom0082nb4.png The way it gave off light was all wrong, try something like a circle. 0 Share this post Link to post

It's kind of hard to tell from the screenshot though.. 0 Share this post Link to post

It's a diamond shape. Should I change the way the light sectors are shaped? http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/3703/gridls2.png Thanks, SlatheDoomer 0 Share this post Link to post
SlatheDoomer Posted August 12, 2006 I just realized the above screenshot of the grid gives away a secret. =D 0 Share this post Link to post
Dutch Doomer Posted August 12, 2006 You might want to delete these sectors I marked in blue, it looks to me as if they are double sided linedefs. Unless they have an reason for being there but it looks to me it doesn't do anything. http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/9486/gridls2sa4.png 0 Share this post Link to post

Is it better to delete the sectors to make the space void? To make walls inside of a sector i just raise the floor or lower the ceiling. 0 Share this post Link to post

That is, unless you want the wall to appear solid at first but then lower as part of a trap of some sort. :) 0 Share this post Link to post
GGG Posted August 13, 2006 The preference of void spaces doesn't really affect much in game. It just means there's an extra few sectors, which may add a few superfluous kilobytes. As long as you don't go overboard with unnecessary sectors, it shouldn't detract from the map. 0 Share this post Link to post
