Problem with Edge

I used to use Edge on my laptop before now and it worked perfectly, but when I tried to run it yesterday, the error saying "OpenGL: SOFTWARE Renderer!" stops the program from beginning... Can anyone explain this?

apparentl your laptop doesn't support opengl hardware acceleration. the latest versions of edge dont have a software renderer.

It's probably because you had downloaded an earlier version of EDGE?

I think the last version with software rendering was Version 1.28a.

Do other OpenGL games work (e.g. Quake3 demo) ?

It does sound like your laptop has no OpenGL driver installed. Maybe you re-installed Windows, but missed the OpenGL driver?

Another thing to try (a long shot), try changing the desktop color depth.

I used to run J-Doom and now it doesn't work.

I haven't been through any reformats or anything like that, so I don't understand what the problem is.

Is there possibly something, like a program, that I removed and must re-download?

It sounds like you're using those crappy software drivers that come with Windows: Just go to the web site of the laptop and download the latest graphics card drivers. That should sort your problem.
