Trouble downloading from C-N

Whenever I click on a link to download a demo, Opera brings up a dialogue box asking for a username and password. It never did this before. Is anyone else getting this?

No, I'm not getting that (in IE 6), via either FTP or HTTP. Clicking on a link works fine in both cases.

Have your settings changed in some way? I know that with one download manager I often use, it sometimes claims that a password is needed, but this is just its own settings, and nothing to do with the site it is accessing (and the problem vanishes upon deselecting the "password needed" box).

Edit: I see that someone has cleaned up the compet-n forums, and made it so you need to be logged in to access them. Maybe some change with the site associated with this is affecting you. Could have been a temporary thing, while they were changing the settings.

The forums were "cleaned up" months ago, actually. I'd stopped visiting them because of all the spam (just like everyone else had, I assume), but I was delighted to find them in that shape. Too bad nobody has anything to add to them nowadays. :-/

Downloading works for me (HTTP/FTP, Firefox).

Weird, this works for me, but this doesn't. I wonder why.

Also, I registered an account at c-n, and used the username and password from that, but still no luck (for the latter).

Perhaps you should try another browser.
You are probably automatically sending canned login info.
They might be running more than one instance of the web server.

I tried IE7, Firefox and Opera, and none of them work with the green page.

Does this mean I'm unknowingly sending them information I don't want them to have?

The "green page" uses FTP to get the files (and you said that the HTTP worked). Can you access/download from ftp://competn.doom2.net:8002/pub/compet-n/ at all?

Some IPs are banned. Use an internet proxy page to download the demos.
