Your ST wishlist

Alright guys, I'm giving you all a chance to tell me, and discuss anything you want to see added/fixed/changed in ST! I'm kind of thinking what kinds of things I should fix/change next, and I'll work on the things that are the highest priority first. And of course, if anyone's got any good ideas for some new gameplay mode or something, I can certainly put that in too :)

Anyway, let's hear it :)

those bugs that i kinda discovered, which made clients disconnect mid-game with a server-related error, although the server was still up.

How about a create a bot mode? Which enables you to pick a skin (including customs), chat lines, bot interaction (talking to other bots after they say something), and other neat stuff.


Or, How about a few new linedefs to satisfy some of the lazier mappers :) Such as a ladder linedef. Where you can set the height of being able to start climbing and where you stop.

I don't think talking to the bots it's very amusing. I prefer people. Because really you're just...talking to yourself ;)

I would like to see the railgun change a bit. When I fired it, i expected it to shoot the rail immediately (like a real railgun does) but instead it loads first, then fires. Should be the other way IMO. Fire immediately, then load for almost 1 sec.

Skulltag is already fully supported by Doom Connector, but the launcher that comes with Skulltag may be improved a bit tho. Just in case my internet fails and wanna kick bots' ass some day.

I don't even have an internet connection (in my own computer, I mean), so i use it just for bot matches.
It more fun than with Zdoom's internal bot, but the bots doesn't seem to know how to play capture the flag.

Oh, right, those real railguns. Yep.

On a serious note, however, I think he's right. It shouldn't have firing lag. However, the bots would have to be slightly reprogrammed to make this change, but playing against bots w/ railguns is unfair already :). Anywho, what I think you SHOULDN'T change is the fact that it has a clip. That's a good thing.

Um, you know what? The internet has porn. Go, quick! Seek it out and leave it out of Doom! Sex and violence are great, but not at the same time. (Well, maybe sometimes.) But anyway, nude crash skins would be just fanservice.

1. Destructable 3D bridges working again (preferably functioning just like with my original deh patch except the bridge thing not counting for kill % in order to trigger the script)
2. Hexen shattering glass working again without illegal op crashes (preferably working just like my original deh, which is a perfect convertion plus being destructable from either side, except the player makes the pain sound when hit by shards even though they do no damage), or is there another new working ACS script for however they're currently implemented?
3. My Baron of Hell stained glass texture included if it's good enough.
4. The horizontal spike texture (used on towers) included (GFX came from Hexen)
5. The impaling pit in my Boiling Cesspool doesn't seem to work in ST v0.92. I know at least some actual impaling things are implemented, but none of the spike things placed in my pit work.
6. Floating Revenant hands working again
7. Floating player corpse
8. Contact page updated with the info/description I emailed in about a year ago which includes an email address I've had within the last two years.

I remember seeing some nice Doomgirl sprites years ago. It might not have even been a wad, just the gifs, dmgraph, and a batch file to stick them straight into your iwad. It would be nice to hunt those sprites down. I can picture her kicking Crash's rookie ass.

1) bot ctf teamplay

2) special bot nav nodes, like to make it use lifts, snipe/guard, get to secrets/powerups. Dynamic map learning is inferior & expensive, static nodes are the best.

3) I want some documentation about how the bots work!

Hey, how about some documentation on how you make a skulltag level? Is it any different from a standard DM level? Lots of scripting? Special thing bits / linetypes? Hmmm?

Love skulltag, but those three levels (while being good) got old fast.

Thanks Rellik. That's it. It's the Ripley sprites in Aliens DM3 (ad3beta7.zip here). The face (with a smaller helmet on) doesn't look all that good, but Crash has a disproportionately large helmet and short arms.

captmellow: IIRC there are already nodes to mark areas as differnet specials (like "guard" or something), dunno if they work though.

Over a year ago I wrote a tutorial about implementing some of ST's features (including setting up bots for single player games and jumppads). You can read it here. Some things may have changed since then and it's not guaranteed to work 100% (especially how CTF/Domination works, setting up bots and jumppads should still work).
Also note that you need a ACC version that supports all the new ST features. The one that came with the very first public release was compiled for win32 and thus didn't work with WA (WA does not run win32 ACC versions for some reason; boy THAT was a though one to find out!) I compiled a DJGPP version of it, but I don't have the motivation to upload it right now. If you really want it just tell me.

My level uses polyobjs for the two-point scoring goals. I don't think there's been even a single screenshot of it posted though.

The bots aren't terribly hard on Instagib.

However, they are if you use Ultimus, Orion, Linguica, etc., the bots THAT NEVER FREAKEN MISS THAT CAN KILL YOU IN FIVE SECONDS WITH A PISTOL.

For realism make these bots a little more human. Or you can leave them god-like for the challenege.

I have an idea for a new style of gameplay, slaughter mode! You have to score a certain number of consecutive frags (or get to a certain number of frags) in order to end the game, and the frags are tallied up, with 5 extra points for the person who scored the 5 consecutive frags, if there was one. If not, frags are tallied like normal.

Also, you should have assault mode, like in Unreal Tournament. One team defends while the other attacks. The attackers must accomplish a set of goals while fending off the defending team to conquer the base. The defending team tries to frag them without getting fragged, in order to protect the base. The teams then switch, and the new attacking team must conquer the base in less time than the previous attackers did.

Ooo! I just got another idea! Damn, I'm full of 'em. Hunter mode: You could have a game type where unarmed players, the hunted, run back and forth between two points at either end of the arena, and each touch to a point would gain them 3 points (as long as the point they touched was not one they just touched), but there would also be a player, the hunter, trying to kill them for 1 point each. Perhaps the hunter might have some sort of special ability too, like super jumping.

I dunno, they're not too god-like to me, I think they're challenging, but I can beat them fairly consistantly. But yeah, you need to make them a little worse at aiming.

Hi... first i would like to say that skulltag is my favorite port and therefore eats the peach both metaghorically and physically!!! There are however a few questions or requests that you could possibly reply to?

1. ap poit - for me, the skulltag0.92 download will not run unless i have already installed skulltag 0.91 on already. This means that to show friends i need to download it from elsewhere.
Does anyone else get the d=same problem? - if so. then can you put the previous update for download as well

2. could support be added for easily customisable bots (eg as like you set up your won charactor on the player screen. In effect this would be like the unreal bot setup. It must be possible to make a program to do thisd as cajun bot alllows for it?

3. Secondary fire for the weapons - can secondroy fire be added in zdaemon as it is in the new edge engines?

4.Is the newest skulltag file going to include a launcher with the sane kind of effects as zdaemon and csdoom ? - if not please can you make one?

5. can you make abutton to the forum from the siddebar of your site please like linxs etc

6.The last thing thaT i will mention is to aks you whether you would put up a page on the site
with links to all of the skulltag numbers for server games

oh yea - and that thing about the utlike assault mode sounds cool, could u do it? - if u can i have a good ww1 trench level that would work well with it
