Well, I wouldn't say it sucks... but it looks like someone missed out on the REAL New Wave movement. See, in the late 80s and early 90s when everyone loved synthpop, there was a whole other thing going on where people were actually experimenting with new sounds.

Short version: listen to XTC or check out a genre called Rock In Opposition.

Does not compute.

Some bands have good lyrics, even with "thoughts behind them". And even some of the cliché and repetitive ones are decent or fitting in the way they are written and in how they combine with the music.

It's called Mirrored, I've already listened to it and really recommend it. It's the wackiest stuff I've heard lately (I was hoping the new !!! was more like their last one but it had more restraint).

I was a bit reluctant at first, but by the end of the Battles song it had grown on me and is still in my head. A year or two ago a friend sent me three of their instrumental songs (SZ2, B + T, HI / LO) from their EPs and I prefer those at the moment.
