Pika132 Posted April 12, 2007 Apparently id, suffering from Carmack's sudden interest in rockets and cell phone games and a bevy of cool new engines, still has a few tricks up its sleeve, says Todd Hollenshead in a new interview with Next Generation. Claiming a new, non-Doom, -Quake, or -Wolfenstein game is in the works, he also mentions that "[Carmack's] approach allows us to do some things visually that we haven't ever been able to do before. He is really unfettering the ability of artists to go absolutely nuts." (found on Joystiq) 0 Share this post Link to post
Fredrik Posted April 12, 2007 Hopefully for id's next-next game, Carmack figures out a way for the game designers to go absolutely nuts.</troll> 0 Share this post Link to post

Megalyth Posted April 13, 2007 I'm hoping for another Keen. Hurray nostalgia! 0 Share this post Link to post
Vegeta Posted April 13, 2007 Rather than a new concept I'd prefer id to design a game for the Heretic Hexen series, yet I know that will never happen. A complete new concept should have to be very special to get my attention, otherwise there are many gaming companies that produce nice visuals and diferent styles of games. Of course the game will require a Gagillion Ultra-P2000 to run at a decent frame rate (yeah hardware lovers use to hate that kind of phrases, I know). 0 Share this post Link to post

Uhm, That'd be Hecatomb, and more likely a job for Romero/Raven, since id as we know it today have nothing to do with that franchise. But I must say that it'd be very nice to see the true ending of that series being made. A few months ago it was suggested that their new franchise might be unveiled at this year's QuakeCon. 0 Share this post Link to post

EarthQuake Posted May 10, 2007 Whatever it will be, it's probably going to make use of some new hardcore engine that won't run on most people's computer at a decent framerate. Why can't game developers put more effort in making what we already have more efficient? Make a game that looks like Doom 3 and runs like Doom, then I'll be impressed. 0 Share this post Link to post
